uneven mycelium growth

So,it has been 10 days since I inoculated 4 half pints brf cakes with Golden Teacher spores, so far so good, no contamination yet. 2 of the jars are growing good sized patches of white mycelium, one has a patch as big as a nickel and one doesn't seem to have took. Should I reinnoculate that one, wait a while or should I just chuck it?

You definitely should NOT toss it out. It may take up to a week to see any growth at all. Do not underestimate mycelium.. it will grow. Just give it time. If you see a contamination, then by all means, chuck it. Good luck.

If they're not at 84-86F. get them there. I've seen spores explode in growth when peeps had too low a incubating temp then raised it. GL

I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"

if youre too poor to get the right temp and humidity do what i do... put them in a shoebox and store the in your bathroom...
take hot showers everynight to raise the humidity and temperature in your bathroom
if you have a girlfriend then even better :P
works very well for me!

I am using an aquarium with perlite in the bottom, a heating pad underneath and a lizard rock inside there, but only been maintaining @80-82 degrees f. With the dampened perlite I am pretty sure I have enough humidity though. I'll carefully raise the temperature a few degrees and see how that speeds things up. Thanks.

Moisture and humidity are not really needed for the incubation of jars. Your temps are about right, 84 is about the max that you would really want to go Good luck!
