WBS taking long (updated with pics)
    #5287023 - 02/10/06 07:25 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I've inoculated 24 WBS pint jars with LC 2 days ago, I still see no growth, when I did cakes it only took 3 days to see growth, is it normal for WBS to take that long?
BTW I've used the: Doc Wild Bird Seed TEK, and the strain is amazonian

If you didnt shake jars after innoculating, it will start in the middle and on the bottom, just be patient, checking your jars every day can slow growth, wait till you see how fast it rips through wbs, its like explosive growth.

My jars average a week colonizing time, but I dont see growth for 3 days, or its too thin and blends in with the birdseed

My temp is 80-82F. And I did shake after inoculation, I'm also checking like 2 times a day, maybe that's why.
Btw, Agar that's an amazing grow at just 50 hours!

I would wait a little longer before freaking out. I've had a couple jars that took up to 4 days to show growth using an LC, but after that they took off.

I'm afraid that I messed up by not shaking the LC syringes

I like to keep my incubating area at 80 degrees, I have a whole closet warmed by an expensive heating fan WITH VERY GOOD THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION!!! but 75-85 is what the book says

I guess that's what happened, I've only got 10 jars colonizing, I hope that's enough for one case (I was hoping to do at least 2 casings aaaarrrrggggghhhh!!!!)

my first wbs took about 3 days to show signs of growth at 84f. so if yours is at 80 it may be a bit slower. i innoc my second wbs with an lc and that one had 50% growth in 2 days. at the same temp.

sure, I'll upload my pics once I get home (I'm somewhere else now), as I said, only 10 out of 24 jars are colonizing, my guess is that I didn't shake the LC syringes before inoculating

looks good, don't check them twice a day let them do what they do and only check them every couple days.
