LC Question...pour on substrate?
    #5286821 - 02/10/06 06:22 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I whas just wondering if it is possible to just pour your colonized lc over your sterilized substrate (mine is peat/verm) in a tupperware or similar conatiner then shake it up and incubate it. And then once it is colonized add a casing layer and continue the fruiting proccess.
I want to try this because it would be much easier than cakes and seems faster.
thanx

Peat/verm is a suitable casing medium.

Grain, manure, straw, rice flour, etc. are suitable substrates.

Please read & search the forum and the Wiki link at the top of the page.

You need to go back to the drawing board, & learn what substrate is (peat/verm is not).

Sorry 'bout the mix up i was on the phone and am lazy so i copied and pasted the (mine is peat/verm) into the wrong line accidentally, i meant to put it directly below next to casing layer.
oops

Any sterilized substrate is highly prone to contamination. Open air inoculation would lead to a contam army, and ultimately, failure. You might get 1 container out of 8 to full colonization. If you have your heart set on using tupperware containers, check out Agar's microwave tek ----->HERE<-----
