I want to rent a mindblowing film tonight.

I'm going to rent Grizzly Man, but I want something else to go along with it.
The last film I rented was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so whatever is up to be watched tonight has one tough fucking act to follow.
Lay it on me, pubbers.

Grizzly Man is NOT mindblowing. It's fucked-up, sure.
"Lipstick and Dynamite" is one I'd like to see--female golden age wrestlers documentary.
"The Smartest Guys in the Room" on the Enron thieves.
Umm...those are documentaries, though. Dammit. You got me thinking that way.

I have seen and wept uncontrollably during Dancer in the Dark. What a powerful fucking film.
GnuBobo, along the lines of documentary, I suggest you rent Fast, Cheap & Out of Control, an Errol Morris documentary that is one of my favorite films of all time.

"Me You & Everyone We Know" isn't bad.
Errol Morris is the King of Documentaries - Fog of War's good if you've not seen that.
Aristocrats is a mess but very funny in parts.
The Draughtsman's Contract'll get your head scratching
Made in Britain proves how good Tim Roth was & can be
Hana bi, Sonatine, Boiling Point, Zatoichi or any Beat Takashi film will blow you away
Control Room is a great documentary
The Motorcycle Diaries, Dig, Bad Santa, Inside Deep Throat, Mysterious Skin also all get my approval

"battle royale" is a japanese flick that is pretty dope.. i don't know if i'd classify it as 'mindblowing'.. but, it's definately a good watch.
if you haven't seen 'cube', watch that.. i really like that flick.
umm.. my gf could recommend a lot more than i can.. but, she's not here.

I have old boy coming to me on sat from netflix, i cant wait.
OMR- I thought LOW was an excellent flick, i was actually expecting it to be just an OK nic cage typecast action flick but was nicely surprised. I think what gripped me the most is that it was based on some real events that happened, the ending of the movie made you truly question how the world really operates. Some of the theories and ideas presented are ones that are commonly known, but the character development, writing, and acting make you feel like its the first time you've heard of it.
I wouldn't say its as "mindblowing" as ESOTSPM, but man, its a great movie nonetheless. If you dont get it tonight i highly reccomend it for a future viewing.

DIG! is fucking great it just blew my mind with how epic and awesome it was. Felt like one of the potentially one of the most important moments in rock history.
I rented a flick a while back called "16 years of alcohol..." it was a Scotish flick that was described as a clockwork orange (rent that if you haven't seen it) meets train spotting. But it was so off, it is mega bleak sad hopeless depressing.

I've rented it twice and managed to not watch it both times. Not tonight though.

For me that'd be All Dogs Go To Heaven. And Dancer in the Dark.

...last good movie I saw was "Magical Mystery Tour".
p.s. I would never recommend "Dancer In The Dark" to anyone, it's such an emotionally charged experience. I'm glad I saw it, but damn...

You must rent City of God, if they have it. Look in new releases, or just ask. It is an amazingly well done movie that is based on a true story.

If you want something mindblowingly sad check out Love Liza, its the most horribly depressing movie I've seen in a long while...

yea, love liza is real good. perfect irony at the end. to feel closer to his wife, who committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning in her car, he huffs gas to feel the connection she felt, or to die in a similar way. he doesn't die though, and just falls downward huffing gas and mourning over her until finally he opens her suicide letter which he'd been avoiding to read. it basically says find another, i'll always be with you, and inside the envelope is a match to burn her note - his memories, her. in the process everything he owns goes up in flames, all the photos he'd been crying over and her belongings, eventually the whole house. the movie ends with him just walking half naked down the freeway after ripping off his burning clothes. either he's on his way to a suicidal fall or a brand new life to start over. great movie, really.
yea, i didn't mean to cap the movie, sry.
'mullholand drive' is a film that makes absolutely no sense, but is a complete mind fuck and is extremely erotic and alluring in real odd ways

The last film I rented was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so whatever is up to be watched tonight has one tough fucking act to follow.
Lay it on me, pubbers.
One of the best movies I have ever seen in my life is Kikujiro.
Its subtitled in jap, but its so good it won't matter.
Its about a little boy who is running away from his grammies house to find his momma. He hooks up with some random strange guy as his chaperon. hilarity ensues, great fucking movie. Its got a sad twist to it. But it is absolutely funny as hell. I would tell more but don't want to spoil it for you.
good luck.
