Original Nintendo

So I finally found mine the other day and got a chance to try it out. The only thing that happens is the power light flashes on every game I have which is about 8. Do I scrap it? Sell it? What?  :crazy2:

Clean in side the games w/Q-tip & alcohol , blow in the system, once you put the game in wiggle it side to side, by putting your finger in the lil slot on the game, some times putting a 2nd game part way in, to hold to first one to the bottom, I've gotten many system to work the were considered broken by doing easy stupid stuff... gl.. there is a decent ebay market for NES..

Don't even mess with cleaners.

Go online (ebay) and you can buy brand new pin connectors for like $12. THats what I did and myine works like its brand new.

Supposedly, the old "pin connetors" were made of metal that oxidized easily (copper I think). This caused the dreaded "blinking light". The newere ones won't oxidize so it'll be good for a while.

I just read on it and it still suggested cleaning first so you dont transfer the dirt.

I did that shit to my NES, and it works like brand new again. One complaint is that the pins seem to be really tight and its a pain to jam it in and out of the NES. I'm almost afraid that its going to break the game, but it works great.

You could always toss it and get an emulator.

ZSNES is a great, open source emulator. It even allows server-less multiplayer games over the net.

Serverless? Surely you just mean your own PC acts as the server.

Since on your on the "old school NES mission" I must recommend two more very important things:

1. The NES satellite. It is a wireless adapter allowing 4 player functionality. (e.g. sit 10 ft. from the TV and have 4 players at once)

2. RC pro Am II. It's expensive because it's good. The best 4-player game out there. You'll have a blast.

Zsnes is for snes.

I love nes! I kept my Dreamcast because of the great nes emulators! I even had a nes controller rigged up as well. Doesn't get better than playing an emulator, on a tv with the original controller!!
