There is so many poeple who PM me to ask how I do that I've decided to post.
I did post about it before but apparently my english was so bad that it was not understandable.
This time I'll try to explain but in shorter terms. You'll need a welding machine or welding torsh. Make 3 removable floors in the baril with hard screens. Make a rack over the burner to sit the baril on, as close as possible to the burner. Cut the inside top of the baril if you can't remove it. Cut a plate of metal at least one inch. wider the baril to make the cover of the baril. Use the baril like a big pressure cooker. Don't try to seal tight the cover, I think the baril metal quality is no good to do that. You could have a bomb in your hand and you could heart yourself. From my part I welded 8 bolts around the top of the baril, made 8 holes on the cover to perfectly fit with the bolts and thight with nuts. A safety valve on the cover but yet never got anough pressure to use it. The pressure is lost somewhere between the cover and the baril. That way just a little pressure is made in the barril. You can see it blow when you open the valve. Use at least a 100 Pds. propane tank, you wont loose your time going to the store often changing your little tank. The tank cost about 100$ and to fill it 60$.
Really simple isn't it?

Thanks! Now a few questions, How long do you pasteurize? How much water do you use? Just 3-5 inches on the bottom of the barrel for steam correct? Are you using filter patch bags in this, or something else? What kind of contam rate do you get with this method for shiitake?Sorry so many questions! Thanks again, Jeremy Davis Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization, Inc. www.echotech.org/greta

i throw a few bricks in the bottom of the drum. So i can fill enough water in that it wont run dry. I then stack fill it with bags. Use the lid it came with and tighten it on. Then i turn on and let it cook for 6 or so hours.
The drums after some time tend to bulge out and look as if they are going to blow up. The lid doesnt fit after a few months use. But other then that its a cheap and effective way of producing blocks. Maybe about 40 a drum or 30 I cant remeber its been a year since i last used it.
