i have had a casing that i started about a month ago and had not fanned it and misted it when it looked dry, but thats it. (didn't fan because of fish tank pump, and i was experimenting.) well i decided to crumble a dry cake into it, mist it, and shake. so i did and came home after three days off not checking or misting and it was covered in mycelium, so i misted it and covered it with an even layer of verm, another thing was i never tried to be sterile or clean and have had no contams, and this is my first grow. i stirred the casing with my unwashed hands. i will post pics if all goes well.

yeah its all creeper strain cakes that were crumbled, i would say the tray is probably a 12x6 about 2 inches deep straight verm. they have been cooking at random temperatures ranging from the low 90s to the mid 70s. its crazy. i do almost nothing and they grow.

ouch...90's? No wonder they arent doing anything. And did you mean the casing is straight verm, or are you using only verm as the sub?

the casing is now three brf cakes crumbled and then the casing layer is all verm. but yeah for awhile it didnt do much and i left it alone for about a week and came home to 4 really tall and nice mushrooms, one was huge, thick stem very large cap. but the temps have consistently for the past few days been around 70-77 so its doing alot better. i am very excited to see what happens, because it had thick patches of white mycelium, and as far as i could tell it was mold or contams but ill find out in a few days.
