Poppy sprouts?

The poppy seeds I have sown are germinating and a number of little sprouts are popping up, but they're not growing in the shape I expected.
They aren't widening out and forming cabbages, instead they are little stalks with leaves at the top that are slowly branching out and continuing to grow upwards. They aren't weeds, the sprouts are all the same and are only growing in the pots I planted poppies in, and nothing else is growing in them.
What's up with this?

Just curious, but do you plan to transplant them outside? I hear it's hard to get them to survive this.
And btw: in your avatar, it looks like doc is holding a bong! One could easily photoshop a good bong into his hands where that remote control is. The antenna almost looks like a clear tube!

Heh, I'm half tempted to do it myself! But naw, Doc was cool enough as-is. Hell, he didn't just make time machine out of a DeLorean, he made it remote-control too!
I know better than to try and transplant poppies, it's easy to kill them doing that, they don't like it. I'm using 2' by 1' pots for them, and they're kept in my backyard. Lots of sunlight. I also have two small flowerpots, they're actually probably too small for poppies, but I want to see how they do. Here are some macro shots of the little sprouts.

The first two are in the two separate flowerpots. The third is inside of the biggest pot, a roundish, glazed clay pot. There's probably about 3 cubic feet in there. The last two are of the ones in the 2x1 foot terra cotta pot that used to house one of my pachanoi before I traded it off to someone else.
Here are shots of the pots before germination:

They seem to be stretching for light. Other than that they look like regular poppy sprouts.
Good luck
