Stealth Lighting
    #5283832 - 02/09/06 10:17 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I only have 2 places to grow, In my vent or in my attick. Im choosing to go with my vent because it is inside of the house and the temps are stable. does anyone know of a good way of getting light inside? I dont have any outlets in thier. Im thinking of somehow directing it with mirrors or perhaps using a big fiber optic cable that i have, yet i do not know if this is enough light to get my mushies to pin invitro...

suggestions....

I am also thinking of rigging up a ghetto ass puley with fishing line and a weight. Where i could have a foot lamp inside of the vent, so i release the weight to activate my lamp lol....

Xmas lights would work, but they get kinda hot. You could rig up some LEDs to run on batteries, but that'd be a lot of work. If you can get away with running a cord to the vent, then a nightlight would work just fine. It's low lighting, low power consumption, but still enough for mushies.

Can you not run an extension cord underneath the carpet (worked for me in back int tha day) from another outlet and run the plug-in part into the area?

Just a suggestion.

Hmm.. how long do those everlight flashlights hold a charge..? Maybe you could get one of those and rig a stand for it. Then shake it a couple of times a day? Main problem with that is I doubt the charge will be longer than 10 minutes and it wouldn't be a solid 12 hr block of light.

Hmm.. let's see. Well, if you're any good with electronics, there's still the battery powered LED option. I got a bong last year for my birthday that a friend made and rigged up w/ blue LEDs. It's battery powered and it's gotten plenty of use, and the batteries are still going strong.

Oh wait, is there any way you could slant the vents up and out so that light could come in from whatever room it's in?

perhaps... but most likely not, thier is a painting on the vent that contrasts the wallpaper so it would be all fuckily...

there are some LED flashlights at Sears that last like 180 hours or so, you could try that, they cost about 10 bucks

hmm, its starting to sound like LEDs are going to be my best option, would it be easy to build or buy something that has a bunch of LEDS on a timer?

If you don't mind the expense of batteries, that might be the ticket right there. That'd be a little over 2 weeks of 12/12 light schedule per set of batteries.

Yeah, it'd be totally doable, you'd just have to worry about getting new batteries about once every other week or so. But the white LEDs would work just fine for mushies.

So far as a timer, I'm at something of a loss there. The best thing I can think of is an alarm clock to tell you when to turn it off and on.

Yeah, great idea thanks alot. Is thier any links to LED lights from sears? Im just Dying to get one now haha. I could come up with an awsome stealth tech, where jars go invitro inside of an amplifier and whenever you screw in a screw in the back a full turn then it turns on my flashlight inside and then a counterclock wise turn turns it off.... great idea thanks so much

Im only finding led flashlights on ebay that have a burn time of up to 50 hours. Is thier anything particular i should be paying attention to in the light specificiations? Intensity or what?

Head, I believe navy was planning to grow invitro, in which case sterility isn't really a problem, since the cakes aren't really exposed to the unsanitary conditions, although you do bring up a good point about using stealhy boxes, which reminds me, some people have used decent sized toolboxes for stealth growing. They don't look out of place, and you can lock them.
