I'm there every day. I'm working in the SGX. Bling Bling! They're in the middle of building another two towered 70 story skyscraper right now. I better get some shots before they finish.
I'm itchin' for some art. I hear the Esplanade is pretty nice. I took a pic of the outside, but I have yet to go in.
Tommorrow is my first full day here where I don't have to work. Time to go run amock. Tommorrow night (Saturday morning for you stinky americanos) I'll have shitloads of pics for you all to check out. Maybe I'll go wander into Malaysia. I've always wanted to see the Petronas Towers.

Was it as huge back then as it is now? I was in an area known as the Woodlands today. The buildings there are still 20-30 stories tall stacked up right next to each other and guess what.. that was the BOONIES! It's bigger than New York now (development-wise... not in population).
I'm stuck out here for a month. 3 more weeks to go. A slight dew of homesickness is starting to seether through the humidity here, but I'm fighting it. My thirst for adventure weighs greater than my normal emotions. I feel sorry for my g/f, though She's stuck back in LA and she wasn't in a great mental state when I left. I hope she can make it another 3 weeks without losing her mind. I know I'll be fine. I'm having a great time, but it would be cooler if my office didn't send me all by myself like they did.
Although.. less hinderances. I love photography and I usually prefer being alone when I go out taking pics.

Yeah it was huge back in 83 when I was there.
The Harbor in Singapore was nasty looking...but the streets were very clean. You would get a fine for littering there...a nasty fine. You never saw cigarette butts lying around anywhere.
I heard that they tore down Boogie Street. It was in the Red light district. Famous for Trannies and Female impersonators...and hookers.
The Opium Dens were everywhere when I was there. I went to several Opium Dens and indulged. Are the Opium Dens still open?
Enjoy the rest of your trip!~
Don't get homesick...enjoy your adventure. Some day you will look back at all your foriegn adventures and wish you had done more...at least I do.
I was in the military and we were gone for 6 to 8 months at a time. But I got to see some wonderful places.

take care!~

Singapore must have cleaned up since then. Drugs are very illegal and you'll probably go to jail for a LOOOOONG time if you're caught with them. Hell, CHEWING GUM is illegal here. So is spitting. Laws are really strict yet I see people smoking all the time in places they shouldn't which is weird because everyone's too afraid to break any other laws. You can get liquor and beer at kiosks on the sidewalk too. Too bad about the opium dens. I would have loved to go to one.
Oh yea and the penalty is mandatory death for anyone caught bringing drugs into our out of the country.
I seriously doubt hooking is legal here.
Things have definately changed a lot in the past 23 years I guess. It's turned more into a police state here. Rightly so I guess as this country gets about 9 million tourists per year and boasts one of the fasting growing economies in the world. Not to mention it's probably the cleanest and safest metropolis I've EVER seen by far. Imagine New york.. but with no litter. Kind of strange to think about eh?
Damn dude.. What did I miss? WHo posted what that was offensive?
