My cakes are shrinking!
    #5279776 - 02/08/06 10:28 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Greetings everyone, first I need to say I love this site and it has helped my friend make some amazing things that better this world . My friend is doing her 2nd grow and she has run into a crazy problem. She's setting up a bulk grow, and has 2 grain jars PCed and inoculated. She tells me they were doing great for a week or two in the incubator, but for the last several days the solid whitish masses have been shrinking and theirs a big pool of water in the bottom of each jar, which is of course preventing the the stuff from fully colonizing. She has two questions, first what is causing this, and second can she recover from this, and make it to the flowering stage. I appreciate all of your time, and give a big thanks to anyone who can answer these questions.

Shake those jars good and hard. Break up the cakes that are forming from the grain and redistribute the moisture.

Yep, you'd be winning that bet. It'll be no time before the mycelium has recouped its strength and finishes off the colonization. Good luck.
