Starting Pans from spores?

I was trying to figure out a method for the cultivation of pans from multi spore. My main question is what substrate to inoculate. I could only find info on spawning not spore. I was thinking a pint jar with a mix of 70/30 mix of straw and manure. then just doin it pf style. Then making a small casing outa it.
One more Q. Do you think my 6 month old spores syringes stored in the fridge are stil viable? Thanks,

you need something for the spores to germinate on.
either make spawn out of grain, and spawn that to poo
OR
to do it pf style, here is a good recipe:
Mix: 5 cups vermiculite 3 cups manure 10 tblspns BRF 1.5 - 1.75 cups water (makes 10-12 half pints)
Fill your canning jars, sterilize, and inoculate via the PF tek method. Once your substrate is fully colonized, case with 50/50 and a little lime. Since the manure is already added to your substrate, their is no need to spawn with manure and risk contamination.

Spore should be perfectly fine. I've heard of 6 yr old syringes being viable. If I were you however, I'd germinate some spores on agar in order to isolate healthy myc and make sure the syringe isn't contamed. Then use the isolated healthy myc to make an LC. Then using the LC to inocculate grains, which would be used as spawn for the straw/poo you spoke of. It'd take a while, like an extra 3 weeks, but you'd just about be positively ensured success.

Thats some good info but agar is a bit outa my price range right now. But i know what you mean. Instead im gonna test them on a single half pint jar to see before i waste 15 jars on them. Then make a small casing out of that.

Heh.. well snaggletooth posted a link to a place where you can buy petri dishes already loaded up w/ agar for a buck a piece, if you're interested you could PM him. But you should be straight doing that test jar. Good luck.

I've also heard of using a BRF paste in the bottom of a half pint as a cheap simple substitute for agar. Search the advanced cult forum there are so many variations when working with isolations it could make your head spin.
