Seed Starter Mix as casing layer?

Hey guys,
I just went out and bought some substrates for doing my first casing. I bought some Peat Moss, and Seed Starter Mix. My question is on the starter mix...the ingredients in it are Sphagnum peat, horticultural vermiculite, perlite, wetting agent and lime for ph balance. Since I have some medium grade vermiculite and no calcium carbonate(oyster shells) I decided I'm going to use the Seed Starter Mix first since it says it has lime in it.
Now my question is should I add 50% vermiculite to this stuff because while it says it has vermiculite, there is no visible verm and the stuff is pretty dark. I hear that 50/50 is the best and I think I can improve this stuff if I put in 50% verm. Good idea or no?

Oh and my WBS jars have been fully colonized for about 5 days now and I couldn't case them because I wasen't ready and I'm still not ready. I should be able to case them tommorrow and I was wondering if it's bad that I let them sit in the incubator for this long after they have been done?

Yes, your seed starter will work fine. I've cased with the same thing, and it worked ok. Plantation brand, I think. I added around 25% (final mix %)more vermiculite to help increase water retention. Make sure you leave that stuff real loose, it has a tendency to pack down like potting soil since the peat moss is shredded so fine.

Your WBS jars should be fine. Just make sure you keep light out of the jars, and birth asap. GL.
