got a question, i have been studying up for a while now, went and bought all the stuff i need, made pftek cakes, started crop on 1/30/06. inoculation is looking good. but i am curious as to what i can do to increase yield. i am a newb but am doing pretty good, and understand prety well what i am doing. i would like to get more than a few cakes worth of yield. i have read about casing teks and outdoor teks. i dont have all the room in the world to operate, so i thought i might ask some of the more knowlegable folks here.
ps. i am raising b+ strain, anything reccommended, i grew up in south florida eating wild shrooms, then i tried mexicans and hawiians while in the netherlands. i am a big guy and have no problem with strength, as far as i know.
any help is always appreciated.

i live in north carolina in the foothills, weather is not the best for outdoor crops. but i dont have alot of space for a mycology room. i have only heard of 2 psylocibe species that are native here but even those i have never seen here.... hence the name lost in nc...

You could totally start an outdoor patch in NC. I live in NC as well, and I checked the hardiness zone map thing, all of NC is at 6 and 7, just fine for outdoor grows, especially of azurescens. I personally had planned to prepare an outdoor patch for this season, but circumstances outside of my control prevented me from being able to set that up in time to fruit this autumn. That's the main problem with outdoor grows, they only fruit during a certain time of the year.
I'd advise you take hippiechick's advice and read how to do bulk growing, especially since you've already got the materials for it. Take a look at Wronguy's pictorial here < http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4323984/an/0/page/0 >. It is designed for growing with bulk substrates, i.e. poo, straw, or compost, so it would be right down your alley. It can also be slightly modified to be a mono-tub, instead of a double-tub, either way will work perfectly fine.

Also, if you are interested in starting an outdoor azurescens patch, this is an essential link. It's a website created by a member here known as Anno, and it tells you step by step how to go about starting an outdoor azure patch. It's actually rather easy. Good luck with your grows.

thanks tiny and hippiechick. i was sort of confused on what to do now that my cakes are almost done, but i have an idea now which direction i want to go in. i think i will fruit one or two cakes to make sure i can get some more spores. and i wil try something like the tek you showed me with the other cakes. so if i flop its not a total washout.
