OK, I got the ultrasonic and tested this out. The spores aren't breaking up and dispersing very well. Is this because I didn't add Jet Dry to the water or because I didn't buy a really expensive ultrasonic? This is a small Sonic Wave ultrasonic with a "42,000 cycle".

I use ports off vacutainers. I had a link to a site that sold just ports. But, it's dead now
Is this the site ( 3rd product down} HERE Cause those are wonderful.
or, Were you getting those vacutainer plugs from somewhere singly?
Thats where I get mine...
Yep, that works great for the air exchange too Mine were also meant for LC's (print on the bottom fo the jar, then inject LC solution, then just let it grow)

Thanks for this truly fantastic tek. Maybe this is a newb question, but how can one reduce the chance of introducing contaminants from the mushroom cap, itself? Dunking in peroxide?

by not allowing the cap to touch the glass.
i do this(from a similar thread-> http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6748859#Post6748859)->
you can fold a piece of tyvek in half,cut out a semi-circle and flatten back out. place the cap over the hole,and place on top of the jar. cover for 12-24 hours. cover with a new piece of sterilized tyvek (without hole)secure with a rubber band. the tyvek will allow the spore to dry untill ready to use.
if you want to keep the spore for a later date,secure some tin foil over the top with another rubber band.

>No,No,not your,the guy who cave the cheap smokes links that dont sell Kools<
what getting back on track... the reason for posting a reply to "dzagama's" reawakening of an old thread was to point out that... putting an undoubtedly contaminated cap into a sterilized jar is counterproductive. why bother sterilizing the jar, or the water your going to make the syringe with, if your going to put an obviously contaminated cap in the jar?
i'm not suggesting that my method will eliminate contaminants,they are still from an un-sterile fc after all,but that there will be fewer.

Yes, I was mainly wondering if there was some kind of disinfecting procedure you could put the cap through before letting the spores drop.
Regardless, if people are having success with this tek, which I'm assuming the dormancy of the thread implies, then perhaps I'm just being an over-worrying newb.

Ah, with the spam, I totally missed deucedbi9's informative reply. I'll give that a shot!
Thanks!

Should I have not extracted before they were fully dry and cemented to the glass?
