ChristianExodus.org is moving thousands of Christians to South Carolina to reestablish constitutionally limited government founded upon Christian principles. It is evident that the U.S. Constitution has been abandoned under our current federal system, and the efforts of Christian activism to restore our Godly republic have proven futile over the past three decades. The time has come for Christian Constitutionalists to protect our liberties in a State like South Carolina by interposing the State's sovereign authority retained under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. _______________________________________________________________________________
i am not a christian and dont really care for their beliefs, but i sure respect what they are trying to do. if they could pull it off (no pun) that would be awesome.

Their goal is admirable.
Still, I can't bring myself to trust that they won't impress their religious morals on others at some point or another. It might just be my bias talking, but also personal experience has led me to be wary.
However, all Christian groups are different. I'll check out their webpage.

of course they will impose their beliefs... that's what they do. i agree with most of their issues with federalism and govt scope, btu disagree with all their social and scientific issues.
i am very interested to see if they can accomplish what they are setting out to do (have south carolina become soverign)

Imagine what that would mean for the country.
Personally, I feel things need to be shaken up a bit. A state becoming sovereign might lead the way.

I'd like to see the whole west coast secede. Our biggest export could be the dank weed we grow.

As a christian, I love to see other christians who want to and try to make our society and/or government better... as long as they're not theological radicals.
But to be honest, we really should not mingle our faith into government. That makes people who hate the government associate us with it and their simple mind will hate us too as a result. There are allready enough people who are afraid of or bitter towards religion and persecute us as part of their prejudice. Combine that with newfound hatred from people with anti-government prejudice and we're going to have to put up with a lot more shit.
Also, power corrupts. A christian leader with a very strong ethical backbone can do amazing things, but many would just become corrupt and then the fools of the general public would start making accusations that the entire faith sucked because they saw the actions of one or a few people who were connected to the faith.
I get enough of the attitude allready. "Oh, you're a christian eh? Well you clearly suck, I hate religion, fuck you". I shudder to think of how me and a lot of others would wind up being treated if government returned to a christian standpoint.
Of course it will never happen. Uppety atheists will be quick to take the offensive against it, and the ACLU will probably lobby against it as well.

And exactly who do they feel is responsible for the abandonment of the US Constitution? Could it be.... over zealous Christians that want to enforce their own morality upon the rest of us at the expense of the freedoms protected by the US Constitution? I would much rather see them fix the mess that they created rather than dumping it on us and starting a new mess.

i have never been one to cast a cynical eye towards many things, but our govt will neve be repaired. it would take a complete overhaul to get back to a point that our forefathers would recognize... that will never happen.
i would start again somewhere else if it were in my means right now and actually.... that is what my wife and i are working towards.

Not a good idea. First South Carolina then the US (if they had the power). Perhaps you haven't seen some of the Theocratic literature in the past decade or so...some of the "Christian" leaders want to completely turn the US into a theocratic nation. Kinda like a police state with religious backing.
Some think it's cute before they hear what they have in mind.
Example Statment: "Our job is to reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost. As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society."
- D. James Kennedy, Pastor of Coral Ridge Ministries

so...
at least they are doing something. i didnt say that i approve of their beliefs, i just enjoy watching a group of people get off their collective ass to try to accomplish something they believe in.
if they are able to turn the country into a theocracy, then they deserve it... not only because they did it, but because everyone else didnt care enough to stop it.

As someone who lives in SC I have met a couple of people sent here. They are very nice people and all but its just that I believe in the point of separation between curch and state.

admit it, though, it makes you tingle with american pride just a bit to see people getting off their ass to try to change the govt... even if you dont share idealogues with them.
"i dont care what you believe in... just believe in something" kind of thing, i guess.
