Hi all.......heres a pic of my yopos-
Now I have heard something about nitrogen fixing bacteria......will my plants live without introducing their NFB? Anyone know where i can find further info on this and dealing with Anadenanthera C.? Anyone else grow yopo in the north? How long have your plants been alive?

Nice plant but what does yopo do?
Never heard of it.
I am a pretty good gardner don't over fertilize, if you wana plant it outdoors plant some beans next to it (legumes are all nitrogen fixers)
But I am intrested plse respond.
Thanks

If your soil was not sterilized when you bought it, then odds are there is nitrogen fixing bacteria already in the soil. If you sterilized it or it came pre sterilized then is probably devoid of the bacteria. You don't necessarily need the bacteria, you will just have to fertilize more often, but the plants will definately do better with the bacteria. I beleive many, if not most, catalog garden companies carry a soil additive that contains said bacterium. If you cannot find it then just plant in the ground outside during the summer, the bacteria are in the soil and will migrate into the area surrounding the plant. If your winters are not suited for this plant then just dig it up in the winter, put it back in a pot and bring it inside until next spring.
One Question.....Did you start these from seed or buy them as seedlings? If you started from seed, what was your method? If have a good number of these seeds, thanx to felixhigh, and I want to get some plants going before spring so I can set them out in the warmth once it comes.

Ok....that clears that up.....thanks........
These were seeds from felixhigh also (thanks man!)..... I germinated them a few different ways and all methods worked very well.... I put some in a plastic baggie with a damp paper towel and the rest in soil placed in my incubator.....hope that helps....
