Light Question

I have my fruiting chamber setup in a walk-in closet. The ceiling, with a bare bulb, is about 12' high, putting the bare 60W incandescent bulb about 6.5' above the aforesaid fruiting chamber, which has an opaque lid and transparent sides, (it's a plastic storage container). Will this be enough light to induce fruiting if I just turn it on and off every twelve hours, or so? Is there any point in turning it off? Should I get some other kind of light? How much does the light source matter? TIA!

Mushrooms don't need much light to fruit, but they do a little better with lights that are of the proper spectrum and intensity.
The light is probably enough for a walk-in closet, depending on placement of the fungus. I reccomend full spectrum compact flouros, but they cost $ money and aren't entirely necessary.
Mushrooms like having a light cycle. 12-16 hours is optimal. So yes, there is a point in turning it off.

I go with 16hrs of on light when birthed. Then 12/12 after.
Light is very important, but it doesn't take much, and it doesn't take anything fancy. You're perfectly fine.

Thanks guys! Since I'm planning on Dunk-n-Roll, am I waiting for the mycelium to reach the outside again? Then, when it sees the light, such as it is, pinning will occur? Do you think having a stronger, bluer, more penetrating light would make a difference? Or am I worrying about nothing?

The light that you have should be fine for your purposes. A better-spectrum light may improve pinset, but this is only significant if, say, you have 20 casings of pearl oysters or something
Better technique will improve pinset even more than better light spectrum.
As long as you can easily see the cakes, then you should have sufficient light intensity. The opaque lid on your FC is the only thing I would change. Since the sides are clear, the mushrooms may want to grow sideways, as light intensity will be greater on the side.

light is essential to fruitbody development.
a regular 12/12 light cycle is what most of us use.no point of turning it off except saving electricity.
light source sounds good.
mushrooms can fruit with only a milisecond of light per day but the 12/12 is best.
