Help with microsoft word / free typing programs
    #5275226 - 02/07/06 09:03 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

So microsoft office/excel/word etc came installed on this computer from the store, No disks included..

Apperently the trial ran out - Last nite i typed a steller new resume, and i cant do anything with it, including copy and paste. So start from scratch in a new program..

I need a good free program aside from wordpad..

Any suggestions.

OpenOffice. Google it.

openoffice.org isn't half bad, but its not that hard to find a torrent for an office2k3 cd.

Krishna gets all the credit, I wouldn't have found it without him.

(Though, my sister bought Office for Mac OS X and had an extra license for it so I use Word now.)

Openoffice is cool, but it's quite resource intensive because it's so full-featured. For day-to-day typing, I quite like Abiword, which is also open source. It's smaller and has a lower footprint. You can even get a portable version that will run from a USB drive.
