Semi-Trip Report - Salvia 6x - JESUS CHRIST! Bill Hicks Wasn't Kidding About The Ride Part...
    #5274975 - 02/07/06 08:12 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Just smoked a bowl of 6x salvia divinorum and..... wow. Beyond anything I've experienced before, and considering that I've had a lot of !INTENSE! experiences, that's saying a lot (no, I'm not going for psychedelic bravado here, just trying to convey the relative scale of this experience to others).

At any rate, the experience built upon all other salvia experiences I've had. It's almost like a progressive novel being written every time I smoke it. In this case, reality was broken down into waves, sort of like a spiraling carnival ride (and remember to suspend disbelief here, this is symbolic, not literal), and some past memories came up, which I integrated it into present ones. It was as if the mechanisms behind the experiencing of moments were drawn into consciousness instead of "standard reality".

Let me diverge here - life as we experience it is comprised of the interactions between neurons, and the brain reacts to what ever situation it is placed in. If the conscious self becomes aware of more aspects of what ever intercellular communication is going on, then the focus is not on day to day matters, but a broader range of information the self might not normally be able to access safely.

So here is salvia, which breaks down those moments to experience as a collective, not a single moment. Emotional honesty isn't an option; it just floods because it is finally safe to access repressed material. There is no reason to fear, because it becomes apparent that life, is, after all, just a ride which we can learn how to gain control over, or freak out as the rollercoaster is about to descend.

It?s very difficult to edify, but it?s as if salvia shows a broader perspective of how consciousness experiences life. There?s no way I could really communicate my ?trip?, but this is the overall impression of it.

Just to clarify the title of this thread, the whole "ride" part of it was that all the experiences I've had in life were apart of a flowing "ride" which I just experienced and perceived, but never realizing this underiding aspect of it. Again, hard to put into words.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

coming together:

what you remember, what you see,
what you were, what you want to be.

a conditioned thing being and reflecting and proceeding

what you were saying about the salvia continuing the experiance from the past times you did it, thinking about memory your memory is stored though out your entire brain not one memory area but the entire being. you also never totaly forget things you may not beable to rember them but with the right triggers which could be any sort of feeling you can rember most everything.so if you think about it every experince you ever have is forever happening because you can always think about it and recreate it sometimes better than other i have had experices in which i was living a totaly diffrent time in my life than it really was. it all depends on how well you can access it. all i was really saying though is the being here and now to me means being in your life at which ever point you wish past or presnt. not just phyiscaly here and now. and that everything you do stays with you for you entire life and is a part of you.

once fixed in memory an experience has the potential of being reawakened by the right triggers (often not by obvious or logical ones, but by strong associative likenesses are not necessarily logical)

memories are reawakened into the same play space where other live sensory experiences are arising, frolicking and passing away.

in that way memory is like a sensory input, as well as being a recording system and a similarity engine.

Yup, and I think pheonix did a good job of explaining it.

Smoked some salvia again tonight... wanting to know more. Well the best way I can sum up this trip is simply "?". I'm left wondering more about metaphysics. I'm left feeling a certain understanding on how consciousness is put together as a cohesive whole, but yet more just basic theories that actually bring up more questions than answers. It's actually very exciting, because ironically, I've sort of forgotten my interest in the area. As much as I might not have an answer, the exciting is in exploring. While some might consider their to be a "mystery" to life, I believe there are mysteries, like how is consciousness formed (outside of the observational side of neurology, there is much more to it than we can observe). Living a day to day life tends to ground a person in their environment, not so much their own interntal tendicies. One of the biggest problems is that we don't follow our own thoughts to conclusion due to social influence. I don't think discussing metaphysical revelations from salvia is exactly dinner talk.

But as I followed my own thoughts, the euphoria increased. It was allowing myself to really connect my thoughts. I think culture becomes a filter of thoughts, and so rather than exploring thoughts, and person is often left rejecting them, depending on the topic (some tribal societies might have encouraged these types of thoughts, but rejected others). The individual is left with the responsiblity of deciding for themselves, rather than relying on the external world.

Of course, with some people that's dangerous, given the content of their mind. But as long as a grip on reality is maintained, it can be extremely constructive.

As an aside, I had thought during this trip, "If someone were to die during a salvia trip, would they notice?" Don't worry, I DEFINTELY don't intend to follow that thought to completion, and neither should anyone else. It's a rhetorical question.
