Don't worry about that ^^^ I'm a handyman!!!
Now, how to use that valve is a different thing "releases at 23-28 psi"?!?!? Isn't that too much? I really like my face as it it without any holes or missing eyes, you know what I mean  :kaboom:

you see the valve description says it's for AA Sterilizers, but the one I bought is a AA Canner, does it make a difference, other than thicker aluminum?

Deja vu, huh Agar?

I told Agar the same thing when I saw that. This thing is solid! What I do is turn the stove on high until the gauge gets up to 15psi, then lower it and keep checking on it until the pressure is steady at 15. My gauge has gone all the way up (accident) and all I heard was a slight hiss from the valve reminding me what a dumbass I am. The thing with the toggle is that it's too quiet. It won't jiggle like the weight to remind you that it's still going, so just pay attention when you use it.

I've got it on my cooker, not sterilizer and it works fine.

The thing is that I have an electric stove, so it's a bit more difficult to regulate the temperature, it takes a while for the metal to cool down, I'll play it safe then, if the gauge goes all the way up I'll just cover the PC with the rest of my poli-fill to muffle the explosion and run as fast as I can. No really! if the gauge goes to the limit, can I open the PC or something as an emergency measure?
BTW, 8 hours and still PCing in my 6 quart presto...

I use an electric stove too. The toggle WILL release the pressure when it gets in the 20's. Do a test run with it and just start with the stove on medium and let the pressure rise slowly. I didn't mean to scare you with previous post. Use the toggle once or twice and your mind will be at ease. It's the same as the weight, but doesn't let much steam out and it's quiet as hell.

DON'T do anything if the pressure goes way high other than lowering the stove temp. A sudden release of pressure can make your jars crack.

Grab a sterilizer toggle! PM me if you need a source. It is a great investment!

Ok, so I've got this sterilizer toggle valve VVVV

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/05-06/792945715-AA_safety_valve.jpg

Now, I'm supposed to remove the valve where the round pressure weight sits, (or is it the round rubbery safety valve?) and install this instead, am I correct?
Then to regulate the pressure I adjust my electric range, if it goes over the limit the toggle valve will release pressure anyway, right?

Toggle is designed to release pressure around the 22 psi range.

When removing the pipe neck the weight sits on & replacing it with the toggle. Be sure to use a good quality, tight fitting wrench & the toggle is threaded into the lid properly.

So, do I have to remove and replace the overpressure plug with something else as well?

Just ordered an AA 930 from my local hardware store. Man Ace hardware kicks ass if you talk to the stock manager or the store owner.
Apparently Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry(the makers of the AA brand) treat their retailers right.
They want $308 or $380(cant remember which) for the 930 if you call them directly. That's without shipping cost.
Your local hardware store owner or stock manager will have yours in a week for $250. That's about what you can buy them from http://www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/930.htm
but $3.82 cheaper. Plus he's throwing in an extra blow out disc for free.

Getting excited about my first cultivation,
~Cappa.

one more thing.....
the overpressure plug will release AFTER the toggle valve releases,
the OPP will release at 28 while the toggle will release at 20-22

Aluminum pressure cookers tend to be less expensive and distribute heat evenly better the stainless steel cookers. However stainless steel cookers tend to be more durable and often have an aluminum plate attached to the outside bottom of them which helps distribute the heat uniformly.

You can find a lot more information about pressure cookers here:
