i fear the casing is starting to grow mold, can i get a confirmation from you guys? if you look around the caps, i think it is starting to turn green. i have another tray that looks just fine right next to this one, should i pull this one out now before the other gets it too? also, is that white fuzzy shit myc or mold?

I dont see any contamination in those pics, if your refering to the green around the caps that is "blueing" it can somtimes look green.

yes, the coloring around the caps is what i was reffering too. Cool! Thanks for your help. As for the uglyness, they were picture perfect a few days ago, but then i misted with water+h202 mixture and all of a sudden i get this white fluff around the bottom of them and they start to blue.

Yeah, that probably has something to do with the pinset, too.
And it doesn't look moldy, yet. Mist less.

Is it just me or do casings very rarely get green mold...I use 60/40 and never sterilize/pasteurize my casing mix and never have trouble with contams.

Yeah, no joke.
Coir is usually sterile as it comes. Just don't try the same thing with peat.

That is a sign of oversaturation and lack of air exchanges. Fat and short fruitbodies can be the result of excessive CO2. Just fan more and mist a bit less.
Bluing might be a reaction to a strong h2o2 solution. You might as well watch those caps as they develop. It can be just the color of the pic, but that darkening on some caps might be a case of bacterial blotch.

is it true that once the mushies start to pin it is harder to get contams??? i dunno who told me that, but it sounds like once the myc has taken major hold it makes it harder for most contams to take "root". true, or not?

True. It all has to do with the process of maturation of the fungi and the full development of the mycelar network. It doesn't mean that sporadic and localized contamination can't show up, it's just harder to take hold, but it can happen. Following sterile procedures will reduce such risk.

Here's an update to the questionable casing:

do you think that off-white fuzzy stuff is mold or myc?
here is a pic of the other tray:

used rye berries for substrate, they colonized with no problem. cased them in 50% verm and 50% coco coir. not sure where i went wrong, i have an aerator going into FC with six 1/4 inch holes near the bottom stuff with poly. you think that is cobweb mold in the first pic? the others dont look to bad though....
