cobweb mold?
    #5274170 - 02/07/06 05:01 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I've had this tray fruiting for at least a couple of weeks now and it seems to have stopped all activity. It started out knotting up nicely and now it has stalled completely. I'm not sure if this is overlay or cobweb mold. If I look very very closely in one corner I see a very small aborted pin but that is the only pin there is. Take a look at the pic and see if this looks like cobweb mold. I know all the symptoms are there I just want to make sure before I toss it.

Or is it possible to remove the casing layer and dunk and then recase to salvage the 5 pint jars of BRF I have under there? They haven't produced anything and its such a waste!

That casing layer looks pretty dry. Have you been fanning and misting? You're supposed to fan and mist liberally until pins start to show.

I can't really tell if that's cobweb or not, hopefully someone else can help you. You should probably have made the thread in the contamination forum though.

I'm a bit out of the loop, but for what my guess is worth, it doesn't quite look like cobweb, at least the center. The grayer area to the right side might be worth a second look, but it still doesn't look too prominant. It does look pretty dry to me, you thought about trying to rehydrate it? What kind of humidity are you giving it?

Yeah, you should have. I'm not sure if it's too late. For future reference, follow hyphae's pinning strategy: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3290155/an/0/page/0
