Cocker Spanials

I don't know what it is about cocker spanials, but I like them, and no matter what I can't stop it. Part of me wants to not-like them because they are smaller dogs (I LOVE big dogs), require A LOT of maintenance, and also they seem more "sensitive" (a bit of excitement = puddle) then other breeds.
But I can't help it, I like them. I love the way they give hugs and wiggle around. I especially enjoy grooming them. The cocker trim is one of my favorites now. I like taking a scruffy and disgusting cocker spanial and turning it into something beautiful.
Anyone know what I mean about cocker spanials? My dream dog is a Great Dane, but there is a special spot in my heart for cockers.

i know what you mean...i think cocker spaniels are so teddy bearish and cute even the ones with the cropped tail...when they wag their tail it reminds me of a yellow happy face dancing around for some reason :p
one of the friendliest breed of dogs i've encountered...

Yes, I agree. And sure, some of them act neurotic as hell while on the table, but I have no stone to throw.
You said it perfectly..."teddy bearish."

since we're on the subject of dogs...
i prefer big dogs myself...after growing up with toy breed dogs my whole life and having one big german shepherd, i really wouldn't mind looking into getting a weimaraner or viszla when we have the appropriate living space + yard for one...
oh they're such beautiful dogs!!

The viszla's I've handled have always been incredibly sweet and willing to please. I've always preferred larger dogs (and giant ones!) but I come into contact with more small and toy type dogs nowadays. And plus I've realized the smaller dogs can be nice because they sit on your lap! If I got a cocker, I'd have to adopt, though. I do not support tail docking (and most cockers in the USA are docked).
Is docking/cropping illegal where you live?

Tail cropping, ear cropping all illegal. You'd have to go to germany where it's allowed if someone wants it done, but this country is pretty animal friendly.
We're getting 2 burmese cats this weekend and although declawing is illegal here, we were told we'd still have to sign a contract saying that we would NEVER take the cats out of the country to get them declawed.

hehe...they're definately not one of the brainier breeds. The one I groomed today was fairly intelligent and perfect to work with (except when I had to take out some mats but nobody likes that).
I like how playful they are. Cockers put me in a good mood.

Hm..I used to have a dog book that talked about all of the breeds. It said that Viszla's were super dominant and territorial to the point of bossing people around and being pissy. It also said that Labrador Retrievers were hyper and stupid though. My Lab was super smart and laid back.
