dry vs wet...what's the difference?

This halloween will be the first time I've tripped off of wet shrooms. I've heard that fresh shrooms are more potent than dry ones, so I've been trying to determine how this affects how much I should eat. I was studing that doseage calculator, but that doesn't really tell me much. I can figure out approximately how much of each substance will erode with drying, but since I don't know how strong psilocybin and psilocin are in relation to each other, I can't figure out how this will affect the overall potency of the shrooms.
How much more potent do you think fresh shrooms are vs ones dried with calcium chloride?
Any help would be appreciated.

fresh ones are less potent ...10x heavier, same psilocin content therefore LESS POTENT

Actually, psilocin is degraded during the drying proccess. Psilocin isn't a stable compound, it oxidates. This is the blueing reaction seen in psilocybin mushrooms. Therefore, if you compare the fresh mushrooms to an equivelent dose of dry (roughly 10%) fresh mushrooms are slightly stronger.
According to Gartz 1994; Stijve and de Meijer 1993; the psilocin content for cubensis is 0.60% .
Some of this is lost when dried.
Good luck

Umm i think he understands this. Is it really necessary to call him a dumbass, this is a helping forum not a put down one.
His question is how much psilos are lost during drying not how much water weight is lost.
I think if you dry shrooms right after they get picked and it was a quick dry they loose little potency. I was never able to tell a noticable difference between 30 grams fresh and 3 grams dried 12-24 hours infront of fan then a day in the dessication station.

Thank you baraka.
It's always fun when your question get answered by someone who only wants to prove how superior they are. I've really wish these people would do us all a favor and just kept their mouths shut.
OK, so I'm guessing that 35 grams translatates into about 3.7-4.0 grams dry. Not bad...
I'm not sure anyone in his right mind would consume 37 grams of dry shrooms. (37 grams! My god croftsk, we must be going for a level 15 trip! )

Actually, dry weight (if properly dried) for 35 fresh grams is more equivalent to 2.8 - 3.5 grams at most.
Under the best of conditions, you may dry the fruit bodies to be 10% of their fresh weight. At worst, they will dry to 8%.
If you are ingesting 35 fresh grams and are thinking dry weight would be approximately 3.7 - 4 grams dry, this will effect your bioassay of that particular strain and may set you up for a trip you did not expect if consuming the same strain (dry) in the future.
Happy travels!
Peace to Everyone,

hm? Oh, no, I was talking about relative potency with that last post, not weight. If drying breaks down psilocybin and psilocin, then 35 grams wet is more potent than 3.5 grams dry. So, assuming 90% water-weight, 35 grams wet would produce a trip similar to 3.7-4.0 grams dry. At least, that's what I'm guessing.

Drying only breaks down psilocin.

no flaming
fresh ones are MORE POTENT
the active chemicals are broken down as the shrooms are dried.
even time it's self destroys the active chemicals, wether your drying them or not.

I think he's talking about potency in terms of the weight differences.
Also, another thing that may be considered is that (I believe) wet muchrooms have a greater amount of baeocystin in them. I'm pretty sure drying mushrooms causes them to lose a considerable amount of baeocystin.

"Fresh" Psiclobye mushrooms may be more potent, however...
When you eat them fresh, Your body's digestive system takes longer to digest them. Which means, A longer come up. I myself have dossed on fresh plenty of times and ive found that i didnt hit peak till about 2 hours after ingestion.
