I just stumbled across this doing a google search. It looks like it might work really well for our purposes. You could even throw a bit of damp rid in there too. I wonder how hot it actually gets. Check it out. http://www.alpharubicon.com/prepinfo/dehydratorstryder.htm

I think that's a great idea, but I'd add some kind of fan to it to help speed things up.

Mycelium is killed at 106F, but when drying, you're fine to dry upwards of 190F, without any negative effects. In fact, I'm pretty sure someone posted a fact saying that psilocybin doesn't break down till like 400F. However many people like to play it safe and dry at a lower temp.

cool, cuz from what i understood from a lot of the teks, heat reduces potency of mushies, but i dunno is thats the case or not.

Don't get anywhere near 190 degrees. 150 degrees was the best and most consistant temperature for no potency loss. I even got to 160 at times and it was either feast or famine with the potency. 150 degrees is very consistant and reliable as long as evaporation is well allowed. Use dehydrator trays or screened trays for this type of drying. Putting them on aluminum trays exc. is a no no. The mushrooms will steam on the sides to the tray and will bruise heavily. The same applies to sun drying..

I think I might try it with screens and a fan. I'll write up a tek and let you know how things go. I'll be harvesting a flush in the next couple of days.

I've thought about that myself. I'm sure they would last longer, but not indefinitely. However I haven't tried it yet myself, so I can't really give you any time estimates.

you might set your house on fire with that one be careful....I use damprid and a 50 gallon rubbermaid tub and fan with wire screen works great plus dont got to worry about burning down the house....
