Innoculate through Polyfill?
    #527323 - 01/21/02 12:03 PM (22 years, 10 months ago)

Hello all...

A couple of questions:

1. Can I PC jars with lids and polyfill "filters" in place or will that melt?

2. After PC'ing and cooling, can I innoculate right through the polyfill?

3. What temp/light conditions should the innocluated jars be stored at for optimum growth?

Thanks in advance...

Oh, I'm using Ecu's from Sporeworks (GREAT place, thanks again guys!)

1. Yes, that is the recommended way to do it. They won't melt. Make sure you cap the top with tinfoil and leave the cap on during incubation. You can remove it for inoculation, but replace it when you are done.

2. Yes, but try to get the syringe between the jar lid hole and the polyfil plug. You won't be able to puncture it in the center and you will likely push the whole wad into the jar (which is bad).

3. 85F, no light if possible. I never worry about light exposure, but then I don't do cakes either.

Good luck with the spores.
