FUCK. I know i'll probably get loads of philosophical replies to this, but still...FUCK. I've just got a mortgage with my girlfriend to buy a flat. We appied for life insurance and on the questionaire it asked if we had taken any drugs. So i thought, wow, they're very liberal. So i [like a fucking cock] said yes, magic mushrooms and weed. And now we have just been deffered for 2 years. And even after that when we lye and so, no we haven't taken any drugs since, we'll still probably have to pay double. I feel like such an idiot. i am just way too trusting. I feel like i've been kicked in the stomach. I know life insurance is pretty much useless, but when/if we have kids it's kinda nessasary. What do most people do here? And try not to laugh too much!

that applys to all types of insurance, job applications, police officers, and in some cases psychiatrists.

If the question asked, "Have you taken any drugs?"
That's a pretty vague question. Ergo, because it is vague, you can therefore legitimately answer it in a myriad of ways - even in ways that would be -gasp- beneficial to your goals. Simple, really.

is it considered insurance fraud to claim you live in one place with cheaper car insurance premiums when you really live in another more exspensive place? like for instance, claiming you live in a small shitty town vs a city? Is fraud?

I don't like having life insurance. My father told me "son, never be worth more dead than you are alive" and I took it to heart. I'm not worth much of anything alive, so I'd rather not be worth anything dead

Same thing happened to me. I was honest with them and they turned me away because of my drug use.

If you guys are dumb enough to answer those questions like that then you should be denied your policy. Just imagine if you where the one giving out policies. Every month I go fill out a questionaire for my probation officer that asks those same questions do you really think I would be here right now typing this if I was like you guys?

get a 'whole life' policy, not term life, the whole life policy is an investment, not just something that pays off when you die, after a period of time you can borrow against the policy to take care of what ever comes up, another benefit is that it will start paying it's own premiums after a period of time as well plus there are tax deferments for the cash values
Term life policies may not be renewable after a certain age or if your health begins to decline the only people it benefits is the insurance provider.

cheers! what the hell is the point in life insurance then if when your tested by the insurance company you fail? i assumed they asked the questions so you were covered for it. not so that they would just refuse you. most life insurance companies in the uk don't even ask, so I assumed it would be ok.

You have a lot to learn about the world still.
Never trust anyone, especially insurance companies who will use any excuse to jack up their prices. Jesus, trusting insurance companies? You might as well trust heroin addicted thieves looking for money.
