When I was growing up in cali and traveling around with friends (90's) haight was a dirty nasty place and you never WANTED to go there.
All fake drugs back then as well.
But all my good acid did come from san fran.

Yeah, I did hear of it's corrupt, but I still want to see it, for myself, you know? I am not a west coasterner and it is surreal everytime that I visit there, because I had built up, in my mind, this grand illusion of it's greatness. Sounds crazy, but it happens alot.

I went with a buudy i met here actually. It was weird thiough we ate different prints and different dosages. I think he was having a bad trip, but i dont know, he was obviously tripping ALOT harder than i was.
I ate 2 of blotters from those butterfly prints that were going around, and he ate 3 blotters from a celtic print(we both had our own goods)
Ive eaten the same print he did today 3 times before and they are alot stronger than the butterflys. I was only tipping a LITTLE bit harder off 2 of the butterflys than i was off of one of the celtics.
He was on a completly different level than me. I almost wish id of eaten one or 2 more so i was more on his level, but oh well, next time

I hate when that happens. I think that when you decide to trip, that you should eat AT LEAST 3-4 hits, especially when you find out it's kinda weak. What I really hate is when you dose and find out that you need more and you don't have it! I have some really good white blotter, right now. I dosed a friend with 2 and he wigged his shit! I am waiting until summer until I eat any more. I have to prepare more, these days.

haha That guy was proud of that fucken bubbler, huh? He wouldn't even let you take a pic? Seems like he would like the free advertisment, but maybe he thought that you were going to try and plagarize his style, or something? On a side note, I sure would love to get my hands on some good hash! The last real good hash that I had was from the West coast(Oregon, I think). It was trainwreck hash and it was some of the most awesome hash that I have ever had the honor of smoking!

I spent alot of time on the Haight back in the touring days. It was the hippy connection point. If you arived in San Fran you could go there and find out by word of mouth were all the family was spread out. It was also the only place I witnessed somebody getting shot to death. It's a shady scene.

It is really neat walking down the Haight though(and GGP) It's holy ground for the counterculture. Ground Zero!!! Our Mecca or Bethlehem or Bohdi tree. Today it's full of violence but it still has the vibe that something happened long ago that changed the course of history. Long ago in another lifetime when my friends and I would finnish our laying for the night we would take a bag of nugs and head for the haight. Walk down the street and into GGP. You could still taste the cosmic radiation in the air that exploded decades before.

dmanit your good with words bro truly it blows my mind you hit the nail on the head. haight may be a stanky sespool filled with punks and crack heads. but the entire area has this bittersweet aura that makes you feel at home even if its the nastyest fucking place you have ever seen.

Yeah, we dosed then walked into the park. We chilled over by hippy hill for a few then walked the haight. I sat and played guitar and people watched for a while on the top of some huge stone steps that led into this crazy overgrown park on a hill.

well in honor of this thread, here is a poem I wrote after a mushroom trip in the city...
You can take the Berkeley bart, rocket westward under bend of bay past Star Wars droids, past Chinese tankers. Top speed for twenty minutes, then step outside into the largest work of art you?ve ever seen.
Someone, some golden race of people handcrafted this city, so that today you can get high and wander through its rapid-fire districts? its embarcaderos and its haights, endless blocks of human strata. No map or destination here?you?ve reached it? And the city pulls you along?
Much madness has spun itself off these simmering terraced acres? rainbow arcs exploding out to stoke up coals in the greater world. Echoes of Kesey, Garcia still ring off the wood-carved houses some sixty years old.
You?re not a tourist here, you?re an explorer. rolling through a densely packed maze of novelty. minutes off the bart you see the diamond-cut tap dancer the crack-addicted chess the newspapercase drummer, hello everybody! the mad artists brimming with wrought iron plans? the overripe scholars descending from privelage. The air is heavy but you feel at ease as the city pulls you along.

Yeah Marin is nice. Northern California rocks. I would never live in San Francisco agian. The energy gets to much and now that i'm a family man with kids I wouldn't want them growing up right in the city. I will probably settle down when i'm done with my PhD and live in Marin or a little north. Retire to the mellow hills with my friends and family and still be close to the city.

It really does sound like some dream that I frequently have. It always starts with me and some friends being at a show, in GGP. We are in the "lot" and selling doses, when I see this boat that is huge! I keep thinking, "It's going to hit the fucking bridge!", which is ludicrous to think of. We always freak out a little then the dream will shift, but the beginning is always the same. Wierd, huh?

ok heres the report.
So the whole thing was rather spontaneous. I got a message from Dlittle about having a trip in the city. I had been planning on doing just that but didnt exaclty know when so it was kinda perfect.
He got here around noon, and woke me up.
My roomate decided to go with us but didnt trip, he had some work he needed to do in tghe city.
We got to the city and dosed on Market then parked by the pan-handle.
We walked into the park through that crazy tunnel right off of Haight.
After we were in GGP we sat down in the grass under a tree to the side of that big hill where all the hippys chill. This is where i started to come up.
I just played guitar for a few and looked around, watched the people, the sky was showing shades of like almost marron is when i saw it from my paripheral vision.
A little bit later we started to walk down haight. Just like you were talking about china, it just had this vibe, exaclty like you said you could feel what went on there before, see it in the streets and the buildngs, the art, it just glowed.
We came to this large set of stone steps leading up to a large over grown park on a hill. I sat on the top of the steps and played the guitar agaian for a few, i worked on a song ive been trying to finish for a while now. I didnt get any more done on it but i allways find i can concentrate better when on lower doses or the comedown. I also find its easier to sing, i think its cause i lose that axiety and my constant critisism of my self and just play.
We ended up walking back down the haight and back into GGP, we went back to the same spot and just chilled till the sun went down.
I remeber laying in the grass and looking up int the tres with the sky behind it and i could almost like focus my eyes in and out and it would create really intricate paterens. I can actually still do it sober now but it isnt nearly as cool as when on acid.
After the sun went down we walked back to the haight. Dlittle went to go check out a indy movie and me and my roomate decided to just take BART back, cause i was broke and he only had like $20.
We started walking checking out the smoke shops. We went into this one really nice store, Coastal Sun, i think it was. All the glass looked so awsome while trippin. I wanted a pic of this $800 bubbler to show you guys cause ther is no way to explain its coolness, but he wouldnt let me.
We got to the BART station and got on the train heading back and i just played guitar the whole way back. I wrote a pretty cool new riff on the train and im planing on writing a song about the day.
We got off the train and walked the 3 miles back to my house where we smoked a little bit of hash and i posted the pics.
It was a great experience, by far my best LSD experience to date.

That was a really intense trip, I'm not gonna give a whole trip report but heres some highlights. When i was coming up, sitting in the grass i was looking at my foot and it was like my skin was transparant, i could see the blood flowing it all these awsome patterens. Later we walked by another park further down haight and there was the massive tree in the middle of a grassy hill, I had this dream a little while ago about lying under a tree almost exactly like it, it was amazing. I eventually made it back to the park and there is this bush at the enterance to GGP from Haight. The purple flowers on that bush were indescribable, WOW i really cant put into words what i saw in those flowers. The sun was going down and we made our way back to the hill, there was one drummer left shootin the shit with an older black guy and a a younger dude w/ a 40 and joint. At first i could really hear what they were talking about, but i was sure they were discussing drumming techniques. This confusion went on for probably 5 or 10 mins before i realized that they were just talking about any random subject and elabortating on it. I couldnt stop laughing. The stuff that was coiming out of these guys mouths was amazing i dont know how they came up w/ it. I finished off the trip watching Trudell, a documentary about John Trudell(a damn good movie)

It's been beautiful the last few days. I'm thinking about going to the park tommorow or sunday to visit the tea gardens and the arboretum, and maybe the museum, taking advantage of the weather. I don't think I'm going to have time, though. Probably more likely in a month or so. I haven't been to the tea gardens for a few years. Too bad it's so crowded on the weekends. I was doing some "spring" cleaning last week, and came across some old photos that brought back memories.
The shadowing in the tunnel going into the park off of haight lends itself well to some pretty cool visual patterning.
I haven't been on haight since 1997. I can't believe it's been so long. I used to like to smoke dank nugs with the hippies and listen to their stories. They always had good pot to match, too. They always had cool names like Janis Jr. and Sunshine, and the likes.
The guys at Big Al's are super cool. You can always talk them down to 2/3 - 3/4 of the asking price, and the pieces are damn sturdy. Be careful of pickpockets across the street at fat slice. One day, myself and some friends were burning on top of the parking garage, and saw about five people get pick pocketed in a row. By the time we got down there, they were gone. We were screaming at them, but nobody heard us. The bathroom there is pretty formidable, as well. I like the pizza at blondies, better, but fat slice has beer, and is across the street from big als, and close to rasputin.
Ahhhh, memories.......
