epsom salt

finally decided to throw the old lot out as it was well and truly past it. Went to get some more from the local pharmacy, looked could find it, then saw it behind the counter. Asked for couple of large boxes. Then was asked what i wanted it for, was ready for answer, as last time i i went to 'Superdrug' (UK nation wide store selling make soap and basic pharmacy stuff anyway) got it from the shelf no probs. Well i just said i dunno as a friend asked me to pick it up on way home, she gave me funny look then said i can only sell you one.

My question, (long windedly asked i know) what the hell would you use Epsom salt for in a 'bad' way, why would it be, one box per customer ?

Here in the States they have the epsom salt on the shelf.
Weird that they would keep it behind the counter.
