Re-using colonized substrate
    #5271509 - 02/06/06 09:44 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I was just thinking of ways to have easy consecutive harvests without buying new spores (ex. using spore prints), and I thought of this. After a casing or cake has been through its flushes, could you take a colonized piece, mix it throughout a jar of non-inoculated and non-colonized substrate, put it in incubation and let it fully colonize? Would the mycellium colonize the rest of the jar? If this works, this would be a hassle free way of making new cakes. Thanks.
