AVG 7.0 Anti-Virus System best anti virus and its free
Lavasoft Ad-aware 6
best fire wall kerio free for home use
spy bot sd finds what adaware dosent
SpywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method
SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed
3S is the program to remove internet tracks and junk files from your computer
these are the programs i use there the best i could find and there free most have updates every other day also go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/ and if you have a problem and and fix it they will help they have a program called hijack this that will scan all running programs and you can post it at there site and they will tell you if any thing needs to be removed and how
this post is from 2003. I still use the same programs on my other pc and do not get any spyware/malware. You sir need more tools.

if you're able to, you might want to back up your stuff (documents, favorites, mp3s, etc) and have somebody reinstall windows...
most of the tools we recommend to work better preventatively.... once one peice of spyware gets in, it often updates itself and other ones come with it.

What is the name of this program and do you have another link to download? That link is down.

It would be worth it though. Your system would run much more smoothly.

Firefox is more secure than IE, however if you want to improve the filtering I suggest using some extensions for firefox, NoScript is the one I really recomend. It blocks javascript from all sites that you havn't added to a 'safe list'. With this I can go to ANY site and never get a drop of spyware as long as script blocking is on. As for scanners IMHO I think Spybot and Adaware are outdated and just aren't thorough enough. Don't laugh but your best bet is prob. Microsoft Anti Spyware which is free. It used to be Giant AntiSpyware, one of the first and best in removal software. I havn't gotten anything in a really long time. A good way to test if you are secure is go to one of the application crack download sites. They usually have the newest and worst spyware they infect you with right before you download! Hijack this is a great program but as mentioned if you don't know what your doing its better to post the log file online and let someone examine it who knows what to look for. Also a good program for removing stuborn files is KillBox. You can find any of these on google.

Yes, Microsoft Anti Spyware is actually a very good program. It keeps my parent's computer safe.
I just use good ol' spybot and ad-aware and they do fine.

that's impossible. firefox is just not vulnerable like IE is. you're getting spyware not through a browser but through other means - you've probably installed weird programs that have pumped your computer full of crap.
I'll say this once again. Stop using Microsoft and start using linux. www.ubuntulinux.org - you wont ever have these problems again.
Microsoft and all their vulnerabilities are just a big headache - just isnt worth the time when there are [better] alternatives out there.

I dont see whats so difficult about installing ubuntu - anything that might be tricky like setting up a WPA wireless network or whatever could be explained quickly by the ubuntu forums or IRC. Other than that, you just pop the disc in and install. useage is easy - everything that someone like ripple might need is already installed and ready to go. the only thing he would probably need to do is install multimedia codecs which isnt hard at all - takes about 10 mins. I would gladly walk anyone through an installation.
the effort and time that "n00b" window users spend dealing with all that crapware that microsoft is vulnerable to could be better used to learn linux basics - if they spend a fraction of the time dealing with the bullshit of mircosoft, they could easily become familiar with linux. they'd be doing themselves a favor because learning linux is something you can build on and profit from, while dealing with crapware in microsoft is an endless battle with little gain.
