Does it ever get old?

I have vast drug experience, but now that's over and I'm into mushrooms (and maybe one day LSD as well) only. I've only done shrooms twice, and both times were on smaller dosages then a half-eighth. My friend said I'd only reach the "first level." Both times I had the experience of a life time, particularly this last time which was actually today. It was beyond imagination, and I've barely touched on the drug. Oh, the things I learned. I wrote a lot of it down, it has already helped me become a better person. More zen. More open. Less hate.
The thing is, this drug seems too good. You learn things, you don't get addicted, it has the WILDEST effects, and as long as you don't get poisonous ones, they're completely fine for your body. I've never had a bad trip, so I can't say anything about the negative effects on your brain. Oh, and the drug forces moderation, you can't do it more than once every few days or nothing will happen.
So now that I'm done giving you information not really even pertaining to my question, my question: Does it ever get boring? Will it be like my weed use, slowly wear down in intensity and overall magic? It seems too good to be true, so I'm wondering if this is the catch.

It does wear you thin if your doing it every week.... I usually wait at least a week between each time, preferably 2. Sometimes friends come by though, and you wanna treat them to a good time, so you do it a bit more often... but once or twice a month is pleanty IMO.

It truly is such a GREAT drug it's hard even classify it as as drug.
COMPLETELY non-habit forming. In fact it works the opposite way. And in saying that. If you eat mushrooms a few times every month they will lose there luster. A good amount of time away from them and your next trip will remind you of the magic you first felt.

I over used mushrooms for quite sometime. I was taking them every Friday night for several months. Not only did they lose their magic, I was becoming quite strange. I had a very hard time relating to others.
It's very wise to space out your doses so that each trip is miraculous.

Okay, so it really is not going to get old, as long I keep my journeys to a respectable one or two times a month. Thanks for the insight.
And yeah, it really shouldn't be classified as one of the "everyday steet drugs", it affects people's lives in a very different manner than sau snorting coke, shooting heroine, or popping percocets. Could it be partly due to the fact that its still in the natural form mother earth made it to be and not yet played with by man?

If a 1/2 of a 1/8th gets you off great, why fuck with a good thing. That is my preferred amount usually, unless the shroom are weak.
Don't get cynical with the amounts you take, I used to do shrooms as much as possible for a couple months straight, your immunity does get strong very fast, but if you eat enough you can lightly trip every day. Shit just made sense when I was tripping, and when I was tripping with other people, we all completely related with each other 100%, and I had a great time jamming out with friends drinking beer and playing guitar in the shed, having the BLC's coming over{barely legal chicks} wooing them with our substandard playing abilities. Life was very fun!
But things do get a little strange, the feeling of giving it a break becomes very real, not like you can't ever come back to it later, but maybe you need to work some shit out for awhile before buying another stash feeling came over me.
I tried my best to use it as a escape drug, but it wouldn't let me. It's a mushroom, but it is a teacher as well. I just sit here like a good student now!
Does it ever get old? No, it doesn't. If you miss a scheduled session, it's no big deal either, it's a far cry from other drugs that seem to have addictive personalities. It's a strange feeling not craving something that feels so good.
Sorry for rambling on...

Definitely space em out. I was doing them once a week to every other week, and occasionally two days in a row. It didn't get old...it just got strange.
So now I'm going to put sometime between it, and then when the time is right, I'll go.

People say "it gets strange" if mushrooms are consumed very often. What is meant by strange?

Its hard to describe but saying its strange is pretty accurate.
I'm in the same boat. In 2004, I tripped about 35 times, was averaging every other Saturday night for awhile. Then the trips started getting strange. I would throw up at the first peak which was intense, but I look back on it now as a spiritual detoxification. Throwing up into a toilet bowl that looks infinitely large with a black hole in the center is kinda strange, but that's how I would describe it. Also hearing my house plants talk to eachother and eventually me was pretty stange, and then having the "afterlife" shown to me was pretty intense and strange as well. This was during Tool's Lateralus album and 7g's.
The only way to know what is meant by strange is to find out for yourself.

I wouldn't say mushrooms aren't addictive, the chemical may not be, but the experience might be addictive for some. I've never known anyone who's had this happen, but well, some people spend their lives glued to the tv set, so I'd be willing to bet that someone at some point in time loved mushrooms soo much that they just kept dosing over and over again only taking a brief pause to allow their tolerance to go down...
Other than that, at one point or another you will probably consume mushrooms more than you should be, just takes a bit of time to get to know yourself and to get to know how often you can trip without killing any of the magical feelings. Don't worry about your dose size, high dose mushroom trips are NOT something you necessarily want to play around with, and they're not (at least not in my mind) considered to be any badge of honour or anything. When I first tried mushrooms I spent the first half hour in a nervous hell but quickly fell in love with what was happening to me, the lights, the colours, the sounds, the emotions, nature, the people around me, everything was just soo alive and ideal feeling, the next time I decided to double the dose to 4g's, another amazing experience, couple trips later I went for a 6g dose, had an experience unlike anything else I've ever experienced before, haven't gone over 2g's since... It was an amazing trip, and as sick as I felt I'd give almost anything to be able to go back into that moment and relive the experience again, I just don't find large doses to be very appealing anymore, infact my last few trips have been 0.75g-1.25g, so don't feel like you're necessarily missing out on anything by staying on the lower doses, although I would suggest you try a large dose sometime when you feel you're ready, it'll be.... interesting...

I've read everyone's advice and I have to say I agree on 100% and will follow it, so thank you. I agree with what someone said about mushrooms do feel amazing yet after you're off them, it doesn't feel that important to get on them again. It's non-addictive. After both my trips I felt a feeling of inner peace and my soul just glowed with Oneness. I didn't care that it was over, both my trips taught me lessons (each trip had an actual theme to it, almost like the shroom teacher has a lesson plan worked out for me every time I take a dose) My first theme was surrounding existance, and the second theme was around peacefullness and oneness with fellow man and nature.
As for taking a large dose, I now don't really want to, I want to induldge in the low dose realm of mushrooms for a while and really enjoy it and the revelations it brings. I do have a conflict though, a certain friend of mine wants me to take a whole eigth with him and six other friends, and he's going to give me a special deal for the eighth, only $20. I think what I'm going to do is accept the offer (which was more like a command after I told him I only wanted to do a 32th to a 16th of and ounce, not an eighth.) And when the time comes I'll pull the sneaky move of baggin' about two-thirds of them, eat the rest, hide the bag, and enjoy the day. I truley do want to eventually take an eighth, but not with all these people I barely know and not at someone else's house, it's going to be just me and a couple others, either outside during a beautiful summer day or inside my own home when the 'rents aren't about.
What's your input?

staying at a low dose for your first few trip sounds reasonable.
Keep in mind that ever one has different dosage preferences, because every ones body is different.
for me in example I'm a bit of a hard head, unless there good shrooms or home grown i have to take almost double my friend who happens to be very sensitive to mushrooms to even trip out at all.

I use magic mushrooms every four months, yes four months and that is about right for me. Try taking a 4 month (or longer) period of sobriety from all mind-altering substances and then using them and it will be just as divine as the first experience you may have had.

NEVER. Ive tripped 6 times on LSD in the last month and mushrooms a couple times.
Never gets old for me.
It is about time for a break though. Tolerance is too high.

I'd say once a month is good. I mean, it won't hurt if you trip every weekend for a single month as long as you cool it once you've had your fill. But even tripping every two weeks for extended periods can cause you to become bored with the experience. It really just depends on the person, the setting, what you are doing while you trip, and what your reasons are for tripping in the first place.
For example, if you always trip in the same place, same apartment or whatever, it gets boring and you want to introduce some novelty into your trips. I think that changing the setting is essential to keeping your trips magical. If you always trip with others, try a solo trip sometime, and vice versa.
And as for things getting strange after a while of too much tripping... yeah, it's definitely something you'd have to experience to understand, but don't try to get to that point just to find out... please. Basically you just start to lose touch with what USED to be reality, and your everyday life and normal thoughts slowly become supplemented by a psychedelic reality. Sometimes it can be deceptively subtle! It's not neccessarily a bad thing, but it's not something you want to play around with either.
