i have a few jars that have 100% colonized. but i wont be able to case them until this coming weekend. is this ok? as long as they aren't exposed to light and drop in temp... they wont to start to pin.
how long can a 100% colonized jar sit in the incubator for? i say about 2 weeks. its already been about a week. thanks for the responses in advanced!

i have read posts in the past that claimed that if you let the jars sit a little longer the myc will create more potant mushrooms. But I have no clue if that is true.

I've let three 100% colonized jars of a vermiculite + water + brown rice flour mix sit just over three weeks at 75 degrees and only had one start to form mushies on the side of the glass before... I'm not sure if you'd get the same results with grain used for casing though since they colonized a lot faster than the way I did it (it took about three weeks to get the jars 100% colonized). Hope that helped a bit...

Take them out and put them in a refrigerator if you can. You can leave them in there for as long as you want. A cold room would work too.

it seems to me that the longer you let them sit the stronger the mycelium will grow, using up more nutrients you might want for fruiting... but i don't really know i have always birthed them right away.

the reason you don't leave them longer is because they are suppose to shake apart easily. younger spawn is just more vigorous than older mycellium. if you do overincubate you might notice a slight blueing reaction on the mycellium what broke apart.

ok... i believe that younger mycelium is more vigorous than older, but i think the blueing reaction you are talking about is the oxidation of psilocybin and psilocin.
mycelium does produce a small amount of psychoactive chemical so i think the older mycelium is much more potent.
anyways... im unable to case at the moment and i must wait until atleast friday to do anything (no materials). its all back home.
well thanks for your input guys.

just take them out of the incubator. the colder temp will slow the growth. easy
