I happen to have the opportunity to see "clap your hands say yeah" live in a really small concert room, but I'm not sure how these guys are live. Have you ever been to one of their concerts? Are they as good as in record?

Unfortunately, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah hasn't yet grown into the lvie band they should be to support the awesomeness of their recorded music. They're pretty loose - if you don't mind watching a band that is still growing, that hasn't completely got it together, they are still worth seeing. They bring a LOT of energy to the table, and that, in my mind, makes up for their not so good sound. How big a city are you seeing them in? How reputable a venue?

I forgot that we saw them on New Years...
Come to mention it...that was the best I ever saw them! Especially the cover of CSNY's HELPLESS!

in all fairness, their recorded music has a lot of strange syncopation between guitar, keys, and drums that can be very difficult to reproduce (exactly) live. other than that, the only other "bad" part of their show was their keyboardist who really liked to say "hey guys it's great to be here etc.." every chance he got

one too many whippits, perhaps?
and yeah, the helpless cover was probably my favourite part of the show.

I'm a month and a quarter whippit-free.

the other night, i found a nitrous cracker in my house. one of my housemates thinks it might be hers, but isn't certain. it was almost like a beacon from the nitrous gods that i should get myself to a restaurant supply store asap (or at least before soundtribe next weekend).
unfortunately it is one of those crappy ones that burns your hand

Great! I wasn't sure 'cause I've only heard the album 3 times, but I liked it. My brother says it's definetely the best album of the past year, and it certainly sounds so.
I don't realy care if they're still growing, as long as they enjoy playing and put up a fun show
Fortunately this place is like 15 square meters, pretty intimate and I wouldn't expect it to be full... and the best part it's only 14? Guess I'll have to play that record now to get into the mood

I'm seeing them in Madrid, and they only play two gigs here in Spain... my brother is going to the other one in Barcelona.
The venue is pretty good even tho I've seen some shitty bands there, but the sounds is awesome! You wouldn't expect it from such a tiny place. BTW, how long is the set? do thy just play the album and call it a day or do thy partake in copious ammounts of riffs thru the night?
Oh, and thanks for the info, I appreciate it a lot
