Big Windows XP favor to ask
    #5265892 - 02/05/06 11:54 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I have a laptop that is infested with an annoying program. I am going to format my computer. In order to reinstall Windows XP, I of course need a registration key code. A little picture pops up and shows me that I should look for a sticker that has the code written on it. I looked through all of the documentation that came with my laptop and my XP registration key is nowhere to be found.

Can somebody hook me up with a key code? I swear to God I bought this laptop new from Staples and I have my own copy of XP (I'm not pirating shit). I could call HP and try and track down what my registration key code is, but I guarantee you I'll get somebody who barely speaks English and it will be pointless.

Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, Windows XP Home OEM or Windows XP Pro OEM?

EDIT: If you got XP with the laptop, it's probably an OEM version, meaning that they don't supply you with your own registration code.

If you haven't formatted, download the file I've upped in this post, it will tell you the registration code your current installation is using.

If you get stuck, I'll hook you up with a torrent of a bulk-licensed version of Windows XP. You download it, install it, enter the bulk-license key and it'll update perfectly with no need to activate.

I kinda have a question maybe related to this...I have a 40 gig hard drive with XP service pack 2 that came with the P.C from dell.. I want to get a 300-400gig hard drive and keep this 40 to run the OS but I want to totally clean out the 40 gig and reinstall the OS. I don't have to buy XP again do I? XP security setting are really screwy with regard to the firewall and I can't adjust my setting at all, it's not an option I think a past virus did it. I kinda want to start fresh.

download the program mentioned above to find out your cd key. unless of course you still have the serial number. Either way write this number down, and then reinstall windows. If you need a copy of windows, and have a cd burner, PM me, i can give you a link. I dont have a cd key though, that is up to you.

the XP Pro Corp key is *splat by Seuss*

Edit: Please do not post software keys...

i think there's a way to ask windows what your key is. it says it somewhere. "my computer" or something. it's there somewhere.
