reason question~~
    #5265745 - 02/05/06 10:59 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

hey peeps.

okay, well im using reason 1.0. I have this idea for a project, but I need to do one thing if its gonna work.

I need to have a sound. Say for example the sound of a car driving. Now... I need to make this sound start at one point in the headphones and end up in another. Like start in the front, and travel to the back.

Can you make sounds travel like that? How do I with reason?

There is no such thing as a front and back field in stereo audio, there is left and right channels- and you could use the automation controls in reason to control the pan of a sampler to move from l/r or r/l.

loud sounds seem more 'in front' and soft sounds more in 'the back'
for left and right you have panning ofcoarse

True, but there is the illusion of front and rear percieved by the listener,
especially with binaural recordings heard through headphones, and Holophony.

Try a volume fade w/ an increasing low-frequency cutoff AS you pan from left to right,
it sounds like front to back, at least through headphones...
