leaving birthed cakes alone for a couple days?
    #5265598 - 02/05/06 09:56 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I just birthed my cakes about an hour ago. This Friday, I will be out of town until the 14th. There will be no one here to watch them. What should i do? Should i leave the top of my terranium off so that the temp and huminidty are low enough so they dont grow yet?

Depends on what type of FC you are using. If it is perlite humidified, a simple 12on/12off light timer would be enough to get you by for 3 or 4 days. If you have holes in your terrarium for FAE, this should be sufficient to tide them over during your absence. Need a little more info to give you a good response.

I am using perlite for humidification. I do not have holes in my terrarium.

Just rig up a way to get some fresh air exchange, throw your lights on a timer ($5 at wal-mart), and you're set.

if you have time, id create a self easy automated FC. VERY EASY but dont know if you have the time, it would take about 40.00 and 1 hour.
