Damn thats exspendive rye!!!! thats way more exspendive than what you can find it at a feed store. I pay 18 cents per pound. You really need to find a feed store. Well unless your not a cheap bastard like me.

some times the workers are stupid. You might have to look at it becouse sometimes there labeled funny. Some times it is called winter rye and some times fall rye. there are differances in when the rye is havested. But it is soo little that i dont think that shrooms will be effected. I have used fall and winter rye. can't tell a differance. http://www.usask.ca/agriculture/plantsci/winter_cereals/winter_rye/Rye2.htm

Onetime, you are talking about Rye Grass Seed. He's talking about Rye Berries.
There's a difference .
Edit:
Expect the rye berries to be 3 times their size after soaking and simmering.

no i am not talking about rye grass. I am talking about the grain rye. aka rye berries aka winter rye. aka fall rye. aka summer rye. aka spring rye. I am not talking about rye grass. there is a huge differance between the two.

Oh, forgive me.
I thought you were talking about Winter Rye, the grass seed kind.
http://www.topturfsc.com/ryegrass.htm
Sorry!
Also, the rye berries(winter rye, feed) that you are talking about, are the same rye berries that you can buy from healthfood stores?
I don't think the two are the same.
Can you take a picture of Winter Rye or Fall Rye?

Its the same grain excatly except for some reson listed (kinda talked about in the link i have above) farmers feed there livestock rye that is harvested at differant times of the year and for some reson have some sort of differances that I can't really find out. the differances are purely nutritional i think. I think it mostly has to do with size and how muture the grain was. I am very confused about rye. In why its all called the same thing. But for the most part when talking about mushroom cult then all rye berries are the same regardless of session they were havested or inteded to be feed to the livestock. In feed stores it is rare that they will know it by the name "rye berries" this term seems to be in referance only to rye that is packaged for human comsuption.
well from what I can tell they look identical other than winter rye seems to be less mature and a bit smaller not much but a tad bit. It is all real strange this whole livestock feed shit.

my stupid health food store gave me whole wheat kernels, mislabeled in the rye berrie decanter... i corrected their mistake when i noticed a "sugar smack" "golden crisp" looking kernel. I was like that's not rye berries.....
"can't get enough of that golden crisp...." - where'd the bear ever go?
