It's probably the quotes in your link, those aren't valid characters in a URL.

You're quite right - on these boards, """ is parsed into quotes when used in a link.
So;
Code:
[url="]x[/url]
show up as [url=http://www.".com]x[/url]
i.e. www.".com instead of www.".com
EDIT: Even when using the "code" function, " in a link still becomes the quote mark it stands for.
I was trying to show [ u r l = % 2 2 ] x [ / u r l ] without the spaces
2nd EDIT - the reason my post makes no sense at all is that "% 2 2" without spaces is parsed into a quote whether or not it's in a link.
Bug?

I think unicode translation should be turned off for that symbol

Can you post the link that you can't get to work as text? (choose no ubbcode).

Sorry for being silly, but where is the choose no ubbcode option?
I couldn't find it
in any case, simply tying out twenty two percent using the % symbol followed by two "2"s leads to the quote symbol being displayed.
It's currently impossible to have "% 22" without a space between the % and the 22.

OK, I just made another thread with UBBCode turned off, but I deleted it because even without UBBCode, the same thing happens.
Just to sum up: if you type in you get a " symbol, even if it's not in a link. Try it.
If you try to link to any google seach results you got from a term with quotes around it (e.g. the page you get when you search for "this doesn't work") the quotes are parsed to in the google URL, but when you post the link here, the is parsed back to the " symbol, so the link doesn't work.
