Dry WBS
    #5262124 - 02/04/06 10:33 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I inoculated 8 quart jars of WBS January 23.  Today, February 4th, 12 days after inoculation, only 2 of the jars actually have substantial growth.

These two jars were inoculated with Equador syringe from a sponsor

I inoculated 4 other jars with Treasure Coast and there is minimal amount of growth.  There are small dots of fungus all throughout but nothing big.  And it doesn't seem to have grown much in a few days.  The jars look extremely dry and I am wondering the best way to rehydrate the jars.  I was going to boil syringes and then inoculate the jars again with sterile water.  Was just wondering if this is the best way and if so, how much water should I use per quart jar.

And the other two jars of Golden Teachers showed no signs of growth at all.  But when I sniffed the jar both smelled like feet.  I immediately tossed them.  I had the same problem with my LCs.  The B+ LC actually germinated but it succumbed to the feet too.  The other 2 LCs did not even have time to "make it".

Anyways, my first time at WBS is only successful in those 2 Equador jars.  Will post pics of the fruits in the future.

I like your syringe idea, ive never had the problem of my jars being too dry but sterile syringe full of water will work, you should probably inject 1-2 cc's of water in each jar depending on how dry they look.also to be on the safe side boil a pot of water on one burner and then boil another pot of water on another burner and stick your empty syringe in one of them for about 20 minutes or so,after the 20 minutes take the syringe out but be careful its gonna be hot and then take 10 cc's of the boiling water from the other pot so you know the waters sterile and throw the syringe back in the water to sterilize another 10 minutes, thats what i would do anyway, good luck
