My Lady reads posts, but she will not reply or register. She is appreciative of thought-provoking posts (she is an INTP by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as I am) but she is put off by adolescent males. Hey, what can I say? I wish she'd join in - she often proof-reads my posts (she is English and has taught the language). She is an experienced entheogenic enthusiast and ivy-league educated, but a bit too prissy for us I'm afraid.

If you put pictures like that as your avatars, your asking people to say shit, which might (sort of indirecetly without realizing it) lead to somebody leaving the boards.
Who knows though, maybe life got to em.

I've noticed that many females tend to be more quiet about their true inner thoughts or just choose to ignore them. Its funny because women tend to embody the subjective form of thought (emotional), as males tend to embody the opposite - the rational.
Of course, this could be a delusional statistic.

I doubt if you would find much fear in either of these Women.

Technically, I suppose I'm female. However, I have been calling this into contention lately. I enjoy S&P when people aren't being snarky and inconsiderate.

Hi Jaimie.
It's good to have you here. Historically the philosophical discussion has been dominated by men. It's good to have the female perspective.

I got bored with S&P when it seemed to be just a bunch of verbal masturbation and intellectual chest-beating, but I've recently seen that some of those folks have left. Perhaps I will pay more attention now. I don' know if that has anything to do with being female or not...

ive read this about this alot. alot alot... lol. but there are many women that i have met which can think pretty rational when need be. but that is, when need be, when they try. which is the same for men, we are rational, but if we try, we can open up and think emotionally.

I don't think it has anything to do with your gender, because the exact same thing happened to me.
But then again, I have a good bit more of the feminine side present in me than a lot of men do.
More than likely the division we're speaking about isn't so much "female/male" as it is "femininity dominant/masculinity dominant."
I think there is a world of difference. I am MUCH more comfortable around those relatively close to the middle point, who can use their emotional side and their logical side together to keep one another in check.
I'm uncomfortable around both extremes.
Hardcore thinkers incapable of switching to an emotional "center" frighten me because I recognize the "monster inside them" as being the same monster inside me that I've struggled with my entire life. (Did I mention I am a hardcore over-thinker slowly converting to a more balanced state of being?)
People who are pure emotion are way too hard to deal with. Walls fly up at the first hint of a "threat" to their emotional instability, and that's pretty much the end of the conversation.
So I instinctually and consciously seek out those who are close to a balance.
While I think very few have that perfect balance down, I believe it is what we should all strive for. The conscious mind (masculine, logical thinker) works best when assisted by the subconscious or unconscious (not sure..?) mind (feminine, 'feeler', emotionally intuitive) and vice versa.
The conscious (thinker, masculine) mind seems to work best when it is "dancing" with the subconscious mind. (feminine, feeling) To even further illustrate the metaphor, instead of trying to dominate and directly control a situation, the conscious mind must learn to (sometimes, not always...) be submissive and receptive; actually allowing the subconscious aspects of the self to "take the lead."
When the conscious mind relaxes it's grip on a situation, the subconscious mind will work it's magic. No longer bound to rationality, (not thinking out every aspect of an action) the subconscious mind will work more smoothly, more efficiently, and more accurately.
I think I swerved off-topic somewhere...

Since the departure of Veritas, it would be nice to have some extra female partipants in this forum. Veritas was the only actively participating, quality female philosopher, that embodied a harmonious integration of emotion and logic, of passion and reason in this forum, and possibly in the entire history of this forum. Like many in this forum, she understood that the passion/reason dichotomy is, frankly, immature sophistry. It's a shame she's no longer with us, and as such, I encourage you ladies with a flair for philosophy, join us.. and remember Veritas as the icon of passionate intelligence.. and artistic signatures of feminine beauty.

Interesting debate.
I've found women to be more interested in fantasy (like TV soaps) than reality (discussion of philosophy).
Which I find saddening, but as far as I can see in life and on here - it appears to be the trend.

Perhaps the women that you describe engage in such behavior because it satisfies an emotional need? The situations depicted in such fantasies on television fufill something they lack?
 Peace.
