Synesthaesia... on MJ?!

Today, with a guesstimated dosage that I subsequently took by means of vaporization... I'm reasonably sure that I acheived a "trip" on marijuana that went to such extent that I experienced what by all means seems to me to have been significant synesthaesia.
I noticed that as I perceived ambient sounds, that I would feel their rhythm, and my body would have muscle spasms which kept precisely in-sync with that rhythm. Intrigued by this, I focused on it... and then things began to approach a more synaesthetic level. As I focused on any one sound I could identify a general coloration of the sound. A big truck tended to sound kind of orange, whereas a little car seemed more purple. Loud harley-davidson motorcycles sounded blue.
As this happened, each sound would cause a hallucination, of the appropriate color, which would animate to the rhythm of the sound.
Unfortunately, I got distracted by paranoia before I could try and focus enough to further explore this occurrence, but it was very, very intriguing.
What do you all think, was this psychosomatic, was it something other than real synaesthesia, or have I actually experienced what it is that I think I might have... while using a drug which I would not expect it from?

That is interesting. What you describe: muscle twitches which respond to auditory stimuli, is not particularly uncommon it seems, from what I've gathered from this forum. I'm not sure what causes them, although it is possible that you indeed experienced synaethesia.

yeah I always get synesthaesia to some degree when very high. I close the light and its pretty amazing for pot :p Its just that my visuals seem to be moving very appropriately to the music. When theres no sound its kinda lifeless but everything still there.
I have hppd though that may be the cause.

I've done this the first time I ever smoked. It's definitely possible.
