Canadian Drug Law Myth

In my years on this earth, I've encountered many people eager to share chuckles and winks about a supposed oddity in Canadian Drug Law. I kid you not, I've heard from at least FOURTEEN seperate people that growing shrooms in Canada was not illegal, a crime has only been committed once you attempt to dry them.
This never really sat well with me, but I never really cared that much about it until I discovered this marvelous hobby. I used a link from this forum to find a site where you can research all the different Canadian laws. It gave the different penalties for getting caught trying to produce/cultivate/harvest drugs that were under Schedule I through VI, after that it's all ingredients in other drugs, not the drugs themselves. It didn't say what drugs were actually covered under the different Schedule rankings, so I checked that out at Erowid. It has Psilocybin as a Schedule III narcotic... caught for cultivation is a prison sentence not exceeding 10 years... So that was kind of a buzz kill, but what REALLY made me blink in disbelief was that Schedule III narcotics is the category for shrooms... AND METH!!! What kind of world are we living in where people thinking growing a drug that has never killed anyone, naturally occouring, is the same as pumping out that hazardous waste producing relic of WWII, that destroys everything it touches untill entire generations are snorted away and our bodies crawl with hell....
Can anyone PLEASE tell me I'm wrong about this?

Drug laws have a fun little tendency to be remarkably ambiguous and vague.
-------------------- "What is in us that turns a deaf ear to the cries of human suffering?" "Belief is a beautiful armor But makes for the heaviest sword" - John Mayer Making the noise "penicillin" is no substitute for actually taking penicillin. "This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." -Abraham Lincoln

from what i understand, here in texas shrooms are on the same level as horoine. wtf!? i mean heroine is highly addictive and can kill you. shrooms are less lethal than coffee and arent even addictive.
what a world we live in. i bet some moron son of a politician died from eating shrooms because he was allergic to them or something and now the whole state of texas thinks shrooms can kill. whatever, it pisses me off to even think about it. im gonna move to europe.

Actually mushrooms can kill if someone irresponsibly takes a dose they can't handle, jumps off a cliff or runs if front of a car or something.
Meth doesn't kill everything it touches, I've tried it, and I'm still alive, and I don't do it anymore.
Some people have more of a problem with some drugs than others.

They just banned shrooms here in Ireland, and put them in the same Schedule as heroin and cocaine.

A rubber chicken can kill you too if you use it irresponsibly...I dont think there is any question that the potential of danger/death is a hell of alot greater with ice than shrooms.
