pressure gauge
    #5260089 - 02/03/06 05:23 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

ok so i have an 18 qt pressure cooker... the first time i used it i put everything together, read all the instructions.. double checked everything.. .and the pressure gauge would not move.. i know there was pressure in there, exhaust was coming out and everything. so i figured that the pressure gauge was damaged during shipping because i ordered it on the internet. so i went to ace hardware today and got a replacement pressure gauge.. put it in... and still, its not reading any pressure.. wtf? what could cause this?? :mad2:

What brand/model is the PC?

Are you sure you you have the right weight & proper weight setting.
Often round weights have 3 separate holes 5-10-15 lbs.

Is the seal......sealing?
It takes internal pressure to do that.

PC can create steam, without noticeable pressure.
if the steam can escape - with ease.

This one?

That is a fairly good PC.

It should build pressure & work fine. If the seal is not damaged.
Are you sure you have the seal installed properly?

Do you see that cap to the left of the gauge? That goes over a spout that pours out steam (after the button pops up). Did you put that cap over the spout after it started pouring out steam and the button popped up?
I made that mistake my 1st time using my pc.

Is your pressure gauge attached tightly enough, If its new, you cave to kinda smoosh the wax ring.

Don't kill yourself.

Steam can cause 3rd degree burns, quicker than you can BLINK & FART.
