Here's some really interesting programs/schools/courses.
The first couple of courses im taking are in New Jersey with a guy named Tom Brown Jr. He's been dubbed, "America's greastest outdoorsman". That title aside, he's also the author of some wicked ass books. Check him out at www.trackerschool.com
There's a school in the North Woods of Wisconson called Teaching Drum Outdoor School. They offere a year long intensive living course, and cover what sounds like some really cool stuff. www.teachingdrum.org Give it a look.
Another school im looking into is on the Wet Coast, in Duvall Washington. Wilderness Awareness School is its name. The founder was Tom Brown Jr's first student. He apprenticed with Tom B. for seven years or so. They offer a year long course too, not as hard core as Teaching Drums, but still just as exciting. They seem to have their shit together a little bit better than Teaching Drums, in my opinion. Another great option they have, is a home course called Kamana. Its a four level course, and offeres you the core of what the school is about. I just got my Kamana Two (second course) the other day, and I cant wait to get into it. Should take about 5 months to complete.
Anyways, please expand on any of these schools if you have past experience with em.
Also, please post of you've taken other courses and what you felt about em.
Long days & pleasant nights

I love Tom Brown Jr.
I've been wanting to go to his school for about 5 years and haven't gotten around to it.
I've read 3/4's of his books but haven't found the time for the rest of them yet.
I will definitly be going to the trackerschool in the next year.

I've heard some great stuff about NOLS. When I usually hear about nols, Outword Bound is usually in the conversation too.

Yeah... NOLS is kinda in the same ranks as the Outward Bound School, hardcore stuff. My little sister took a 30 day NOLS survivel course, where the walked into the woods with only what they were wearing....
And she smelled pretty bad when we picked her up too!!

I have attended a few NOLS semesters. I'd really suggest them to a outdoors minded college student. Easy credit for doing fun things.
