Deleting Google Search Entries

How do I get rid of all of the search entries that I have made in my Google search entries?
I'm tired of seeing all of them everytime I press in my first letter. They start popping up again. I could really stand to get rid of alot of them.

This one might have an odd twist to it. It wasnt just me who wanted it off but my wife also. She has been known to enjoy it as well. Our daughter is staying the weekend and we knew she wanted to use our laptop. So it was like...."fuck, we need to get this shit off of here"
Oh well, it's cool now.

I don't know if it differs from browser to browser or what, but I can actually individually delete them by just pressing the delete key (not backspace) while they are highlighted.

I use firefox, and there are a few extensions where you pretty much click a button when you want it to stop recording form input, page history, and cookies. This is probably useful when looking at bad stuff at work, as it will leave little to no trace, and then when you turn it off, it starts keeping track again (so you dont have to keep clearing your history, and losing not-so-bad pages)
this might be off topic, but something i find extremely useful.
