Power supply question
    #5255771 - 02/02/06 03:18 PM (18 years, 3 months ago)

http://www.supergooddeal.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BCC337-PLW-BK&Click=17583

I was planning on buying this case at the advice of a friend who has the same one with the built in power supply. What is giving me second thoughts is the fact that the 550 watt power supply in here by itself (on the site) is 15 dollars. I have never heard of any decent power supply going for such a small amount of money. Should I be wary of this and get a different case that does not come with a power supply?

Those P/S are stock power supplies, mine lasted me a good 9 months before pooching out. If you want staying power, go buy one from a local shop or online and do your research on the actual P/S before buying it.

See?

You get what you pay for:

There's a link to the actual power supply (retail) that people have bought.

$15 for a 550 watt?

Yeah I doubt it would last you a year. I paid $30 for my case which included a 450 watt supply and that blew out within a year.

Get a case without a power supply and buy the supply separately. I would spend $50-$100 on a supply that I expect to last. You do get what you pay for.

Thanks for the help.  I found  this  case and saw that it requires a "Supported Motherboard."  Does this just mean my mobo's form factor has to be one of the ones that is also listed with the case?  The one I ordered is ATX, so I think it should work, but I just want to make sure.  Thanks again

You shouldn't have motherboard problems, I have read about having trouble with odd shapes like the cube cases though. Power supply looks good too. Don't forget the fans for the motherboard though and goodluck.
