    #525130 - 01/18/02 10:51 PM (22 years, 2 months ago)

Is it really neccessary to bleach used jars to clean them..or can you just wash them out with antibacterial soap..? Won't the pressure cooker kill anything that mayb still be in the jar?
Please respond if any experience.
Thanks

You do not need to bleach.

I just wash my jars like any other dishes. With soap and hot water and let sit on a dish drainer to air dry.

The pressure cooker completes the sterilization.

Never a problem.

If the jar did not hold a contaminated cake then warm water and soap is fine.
If it held a contaminated cake, wash and pc to sterilize.
