Back Pain

On and off I seem to be having bouts of pretty significant lower back pain. The kind of pain that makes me stop what I'm doing, take painkillers, and go lay down and wish it would stop.
Right now it seems to be flaring up again. I took 1g of acetomeniphen an hour ago, it's still pretty painful.
I have no idea what could be causing this, and I'm not sure how I could go about treating it.

Possible emotional causes. Lots of back pain has an emotional origin.

Have you gone to the doctor? Something is not right and has to be corrected. I understand what your going through. I had a motorcycle accident where I broke my back at T12/L1. They had to implant two 15" titanium rods. In 2004 I lived In San Diego and could buy marijuana legally. It really helps with back pain. If you don't live in California then you should look into anti-inflammatory for relief.

I live in california, but I have an air force career planned for my future.
Since california's medical marijuana laws are in defiance of federal law, I'd rather avoid having that on my medical record.
I'm going to schedule a doctor's appointment and see what the hell is causing this.
I must say, though. I've never heard of emotionally-triggered back pain before. And I imagine I'd have to pay somebody $90 per hour to figure out if it was caused by some sort of emotional issue.

Be thankfull that you can lay down at least. I injured my back at work once and laying down was impossible, too much pain.
When I went to the doctor I told him it only hurts when I breath, which was the truth.
I eventually recovered. But I feel for you, back pains are the worse, the pain never goes away and you can never get comfortable. The only relief I could get was to walk around.

If you have a beer gut, it's a major cause of back pain. Trust me, I'm trying to get rid of mine now, and I don't want to give up beer...lol RR

Hehe, no beer gut here.
I'm a very lean build, and very low body fat. 5'11" and about 155lbs.
I'm trying to get an appointment scheduled for this saturday with a doctor. No more procrastinating about this. Last time I let it wait, because it seemed to subside for a while... and that just made me wind up having to tolerate the pain of a couple more instances of this without any sort of remedy.
Hopefully I don't need painkillers or muscle relaxants, and I can get some sort of exercise or stretching recommendation that can remedy it instead.

I think I may have discovered a possible reason that I would get pain in simultaneously my back and my abdomen... I just shat out a toothpick.
I must have left it in a sandwitch when I ate it.
It must have been poking at my intestines.
Now I definitely need to ge see a doctor
